I'm PIFing this Jinhao 321, a fairly nice wee Chinese pen (now discontinued), to make room for a couple of new arrivals.

It's a slim & light sac filling pen with a fine nib, ideal for note taking and a nice shade of green to boot - have a look over yesterday's review for some more details!

If you're interested, drop me a PM with "321" in the subject line by 10pm-ish GMT on the 25th, and I'll use random.org to pick a winner. This PIF is open to anyone who thinks they might like the 321. No mischievous Antarcticans need apply.

Two weeks after I offered it, I wanted to announce UnteoubledHeart wins the Pilot Iroshizuku ink samples. They will be coming her way tomorrow, after a lengthy delay caused because I was providing samples from inks bought from a Japanese seller on eBay. But, the inks are here, they are lovely, I am loving them, and am so happy to be able to share them. Thanks to everyone who participated.

In my mail today was a rather thick envelope. Just a little prose and free paper, what a deal! So I immediately pulled out a pen to test with. No feather or bleed, but considering the line the little show through wasn't surprising. For 20# paper I think it did exceptionally well.

Yay! I'm glad it arrived safe and sound. Everyone else should be receiving their paper soon then :)

Posting the "winning" poems tomorrow. Everyone that sent one received a sample, as long as they sent their address. I was very happy with the variety of takes on my PIF. I hope to do another one in the next couple months.

Bump

What - partial bottle (1/3-2/3 full) Sheaffer's Permanent Blue-Black #24 but you have to be willing to cover cost of shipping. As a guideline, it is roughly $6-$10 CONUS priority mail depending on where in the US you are related to the heart of Appalachia. I will check shipping before mailing so you can decide if it is worth it before I send it out.

How - send me a PM and you get a number and random.org will select.

When - sometime between now and the end of the month depending on when I get around to it.

As promised, here are the winners of my PIF. This was really fun, and I hope to do another paper PIF soon :)

In exchange for paper your one request is prose?

Yet few have tried to enter. Why do you suppose?

Fear? Trepidation? Uncertainty of skill?

Avoidance of rhyme and meter? Lack of fortitude or will?

Some may be gifted with a plethora of words.

Others may seem quiet and prefer to go unheard.

These quills of which we are enamored require a certainty of thought.

Our marks are not erasable. One poor stroke renders all for naught.

Yet once we're in the moment the words flow just as the ink.

An unconscious stream of thoughts written without time to think.

Why do I use the fountain to exercise my mind?

I believe it is the dance of pen, paper, ink and line.

So if you so choose to gift me with this paper meant for pens,

Know that I will use it when inspiration strikes again.

Poem by FPN member kidde.

There was a man who liked ink,

not just any, it had to be Quink.

Using his Parker pen,

he wrote again and again,

I sure wish I had a stout drink.

Poem by FPN member jcp1st

(Still need your address! PM'ed you about it but just in case you didn't see it I'm posting here.)

My pens are my treasures

To move them across paper:

Bliss...

This is

Why I am sending

this "poem" to you: to extend their mileage

And increase my pleasure...

Poem by FPN member mhguda

(We opted for a trade due to their location out of the USA, but they were awesome enough to *also* send a poem.)

"Montblanc and Nakaya"

Montblanc and Nakaya, how you tickle my soul

My heart says yes, but wallet says no.

I tell myself I am ready to forsake all others

If I only had my druthers!

Be careful, they say

About your dreams coming true one day,

A nib like needle into vein,

One never knows if they shall wake from the pain.

t happened, the planets aligned and I am ready to pay!

But alas, I truly did have to forsake all others,

And had nothing left to say.

"My Innocent Pen Addiction"

Polar black, Baystate Blue

This is the song I sing for you

Dragon napalm, Golden brown

All the colors reverse my frown

Concord grape and blue nose bear

I miss the money that isn't there

Italic, music, flexy - oh!

Pen budget has no room to grow

Moleskine paper, Clairefontaine

Spent the last penny to my name!

Can't eat food - need Ink Drop

Have a disease, cannot stop!

Poem by FPN member msun

(Sent a day late buuut I have decided to send you a sample since I didn't hit my limit and have extra envelopes ready to go! Please send me your address.)

A fountain of ink,

a point of gold.

Some are new,

some quite old.

Of what do I speak

and where has it been?

Another time, another place?

My fountain pen!

Poem by FPN member TXkat

Fountain pens, they flow with ink

But mind you, they certainly don't stink

They write with much flair

When there's jasmine in the air

And my other hand, it holdeth a stiff drink.

I'm offering two bottles of ink that I don't want.

Matt

Just a public shoutout to you too: The inks have arrived, thanks a lot for offering this :)

My Pens/Nibs (inked/active): Lamy Studio/Vista/Joy (XXF slight-flex custom | 14k EF | EF | F | 14k M | M | B | 14k 1.1 custom | 1.1 | 1.5 | 1.9), TWSBI Diamond 580 (F | Pendleton BadBoy | Zebra G | F.P.R. semi-flex), Pilot Falcon EF, Penkala Vintage 14k semi-flex, Pilot Parallel (2.4 | 3.8 | 6.0)

http://www.fp-ink.info/img/button.pngI'm still looking for help/data/supporters/sponsors for my Ink Database - It already contains over 900 Inks but is still low on data about the inks except on the Inks I got myself or where I found nice data sheets. So Im looking for these: InkSamples mailed to me, Permissions to use InkReviews - preferable by people who have a lot of InkReviews online, InkReviews mailed to me so I can scan them, Sponsors that will help me to finance InkSamples, People willing to trade InkSamples (list of available Inks from me is available via PM request - please include available Inks)

I'll give away 5 of these polishing sets: http://www.fp-ink.info/tuning

It's basically the material that Brian Goulet sells and Richard Binder recommends in his workshop: http://www.richardspens.com/pdf/workshop_notes.pdf

I couldn't find this outside of these two US-sources which prompted me to track down the industry level source, which basically only sells this in truckloads (at least from the FP-polishing perspective) thus I'm reselling part of it again and giving it away to whomever is interested around me :)

I'd like to restrict this to non-US people (worldwide except US) as everyone in the US can get this for a very reasonable price at the gouletpens.com page, outside of the US I'd still have to find a source (which caused me to order a bigger pack of this stuff in the first place) :)

I'll give them out first come first serve:

This is my first PIF, so apologies if the message is a little ponderous. I have been on FPN for about a year now, and have got a lot out of it. So, now that I have a couple of pens and some ink to give away, it feels more like paying back than paying forward. Still, here goes....

* Italix Originalis in lapis blue, with 3 nib sizes, all italic: EF, M, 3B. Metal body. Screw cap. I bought it new last year. It's a lovely pen, but I just can't make friends with it, probably because it's a little too slim for my hands. Comes in its original box.

post-106543-0-23846000-1409397097.jpg

Thanks, Stephanos. The Italix arrived in the morning mail and it looks even better than the pic. I installed an international converter, filled it with Waterman Serenity Blue, and tried it briefly on 24 lb Staples printer paper, a Staples composition book and a Clairefontaine notebook. The 24 lb was slightly scatchy, the comp book smooth, and the clairfontaine very smooth. Impressive pen. I'll post some pics here and a review elsewhere in the future.

Thanks again, Stephanos, for your generous PIF.
