And here is another from me: yesterday at one of the B&M stores here the proprietor gave me a number of cases with old Parker Quink cartridges. They can no longer be sold because they've stood for so long they've lost part of the water that makes up the ink. But they will work perfectly fine if after perforating the seal you use a syringe to top up with water. I will be sharing these locally as well, but I don't see these running out very soon. I've got three colors to give: ruby, emerald, and mocha - so these are not your run of the mill Parker colors. I will give away six sets of the three colors each; each set containing five cartridges of each color. So you get five red, five green, and five brown long Parker cartridges. And to turn things around, I'd like to give this to someone Not in the USA, although I won't exclude anyone - just to even things out a little bit for those of us not in the US... Drop me a PM, and if you don't have a Parker pen to use them in, but still want them, tell me why. (Maybe you aim to extract the ink and use it in another pen? be my guest...)

I will leave this up for a week, and draw the winners next friday (july 25th).

BUMP Only two more days - and opening it up to people from the USA, as well.

And the Winner is.......NevynM :)

awh, I came just a couple days too late...

I am intending on trying my hand in crafting, perhaps some pen rest or whatever. If I'm not too lazy and do indeed make one of those, I'll put it up over here :)

I also have a bunch of stuff I could convert into pen accessories, so if that happens, I'll post here, as well XD

Js, but any ink samples would be awesome. I cannot afford any inks atm, since I bought 5 pens in about a month, one is a gift for a friend, and a few other stuff, so I am out of money to spend :gaah: , but would love to get familiar with other brands and colours.

Have a nice day, everyone :bunny01:

Edit: So, I looked around, and I found some pretty boxes and nice wood planks. I will probably fiddle with those this weekend, after I get my father or brother to help me cut the planks into the right size. I'll probably incorporate some acrylic into it, not sure how nicely it'll turn out ^^"

I hope I will go trough with it, and won't get lazy as I usually do. I really gotta get rid of all those boxes and containers, so turning them into pen storage and giving them to people who are looking for someplace nice for their pens to be stored in is a good way to do so.

If anybody is interested, nag me a bit in PM's, and I'll get to it. For now I'll try to figure out how to space the pens so you could fit any pen into the container, and not only thinner pens x.x

EDIT!:

Unrelated, but another PIF. I would like to give away my grandfather's pocket watch. It's a Molnija one, hunter case. I am attaching photos of it - excuse the quality, I am using my webcam.

If anyone wants it, please PM me. Open worldwide, and I don't mind paying the shipping cost :)

Some details:

I don't know how long my grandfather had it, I believe it was over 20 years at least. The watch stopped working long ago, and winding it doesn't really work.. I cannot move the pointing thingies, either. It is other ways in a very good condition, so if you want to repair it, please do. I am sure it could be a great pocket watch if someone were to use it.

I'll keep the PIF open for a week to give as many people as possible a chance to participate :) Please only state your message is about the watch in the title, and next Wednesday at 12 a.m my time (the night between Wed. and Thu.) I'll pick a random winner :)

I am going to try this for the first time, primarily as a "thank you" for all of the kind people on the board who have sent me in the right direction while building my collection. It will have to be in their spirit, though, because the PIF I have to offer is better suited for a new fountain pen user.

I would prefer that it go to a student or other young person, who is new to pens, and who promises to use it and not sell it. If the recipient decides, as I have, that he or she no longer wants the pen, I would request that the pen be given away on here. Also, I would ask that only people who have not already received a PIF fountain pen respond (if you have received ink or something that is not a pen, please feel free to send me a PM), and that only people who have prior posts on FPN respond. Finally: I am a bit short on time, so if you respond, please send me a short (one paragraph) message telling me: (1) how long you have been interested in fountain pens; (2) what other FP's, if any, you have; (3) how you intend to use this; (4) whether you have gotten any other PIF's recently and, if so, what; and (5) promising that if you get rid of the pen, you will not charge anyone for it, but will give it away in the same spirit you received it. I will cut this off on July 24 at midnight PT (assuming there have been sufficient responses) and mail it out by the end of the week. No geographic limitations, but I am not promising to ship the box if you live out of the US. I will choose a winner at random, but only include in the selection people who fit the criteria above.

So, here is my offering (all to one person, I don't want to ship a bunch of stuff, but I have a few other pens and ink I may also give away on here if this goes smoothly):

1. Lamy All Star (the shiny metallic Safari twin), dark purple/maroon color, EF nib.*

2. Lamy converter for All Star, so you can use ink from bottles.

3. 6 ink samples (I'll ask you to PM me color preferences if selected, I have a lot of ink, so I think I will be able to find something that suits you).

4. 6 universal short ink cartridges, including a mix of Private Reserve Daphne Blue, Private Reserve Arabian Rose, Montblanc Burgundy Red, Montblanc Royal Blue, Montlanc Purple, and whatever else I may stumble across. I googled, and it seems these will fit on the Lamy, but when I tried it with a Private Reserve cartridge I felt like the ink was a bit blobby. It worked though, and if you are more careful than I am about jamming the cartridge on, it may even work neatly enough for travel.

*Slightly used, by me; I was expecting another shade of purple, but kept it to try a Safari; I tried, and I liked, but I like the new hot pink more, and am not using it, so it should go to a good home.

Lamy pens do not use International cartridges - they have their own proprietary ones.

Actually, I've did this back in school. When you press down a standard international cartridge hard enough onto the lamy post it will get on there. Most of the time. The Lamy Posts are build with a lot of strength and can handle quite some abuse. Most of the standard cartridges are pretty flexible.

My Pens/Nibs (inked/active): Lamy Studio/Vista/Joy (XXF slight-flex custom | 14k EF | EF | F | 14k M | M | B | 14k 1.1 custom | 1.1 | 1.5 | 1.9), TWSBI Diamond 580 (F | Pendleton BadBoy | Zebra G | F.P.R. semi-flex), Pilot Falcon EF, Penkala Vintage 14k semi-flex, Pilot Parallel (2.4 | 3.8 | 6.0)

http://www.fp-ink.info/img/button.pngI'm still looking for help/data/supporters/sponsors for my Ink Database - It already contains over 900 Inks but is still low on data about the inks except on the Inks I got myself or where I found nice data sheets. So Im looking for these: InkSamples mailed to me, Permissions to use InkReviews - preferable by people who have a lot of InkReviews online, InkReviews mailed to me so I can scan them, Sponsors that will help me to finance InkSamples, People willing to trade InkSamples (list of available Inks from me is available via PM request - please include available Inks)

Having forced an international onto a Lamy, I absolutely agree they do not readily take them, but it can be done. I wouldn't have even attempted it but there was a lengthy discussion of it on here so I tried, and it turns out that it is possible, without much effort, if you puncture the cartridge before using it. That said, I am not endorsing it if you are going to put your pen in a bag because it was not a perfect seal.

My trip was moved up, so I had to close the PIF early. I have already had several great responses, though, so it did not feel untimely.

The winner of the Lamy, converter, universal cartridges, and ink samples is . . .SkylarKnight. She has been notified by IM and the package is on its way to Israel (and with the planes flying again, it may even get there!).

First runner up, winner of the bonus prize, whom I disqualified from the main drawing because he already has a Safari, but whom I still wanted to give something, because he is studying for the bar exam right now,* is . . .acidjuicemotel. AJM is getting a silver Pilot Metropolitan, a Con-50 convertor, and an assortment of ink. I thought it was fitting to give away the Pilot and Lamy in the same PIF because I bought them together, to see which one I preferred, and had planned all along to give the Pilot away in this PIF if it felt right, which it did.

BTW, if anyone is interested, I did like the Lamy better than the Met - mostly because it has a better converter - but the Met was also unbelievably smooth, comes in a very nice case, and for $15 less is certainly a strong contender. I think people would be happy with either, and honestly, they both write better than a certain gold nibbed pen I have paid ten times as much for.

Thank you to everyone who messaged me. So many wonderful, compelling requests. I am very glad I had the opportunity to do this and know the Safari and the Metropolitan are both off to wonderful new homes where they will be loved.

*The bar is one of those things that just inspires in those who who have survived it the desire to give fountain pens, and pretty much anything else that will help make the experience better, to those who are presently enduring it)

congratulations to the winners.

I do hope the pen makes it to Israel in one piece, and we get to see some samples from them.

I'm sure it'll make it here in one piece, as I've ordered many things from different countries, and all has arrived :)

Congratulations SkylarKnight! As a recent AlStar recipient I can assure you it is a nice writing pen. Just be prepared to "need" more pens, I'm not sure there are ever enough.

Congrats! You'll love it, I know I love my safari. I forgot it on my desk at work when I went home the other day and I thought I was going to have a panic attack. Lol.

Thanks!

I'm always in need of more pens, and now I have a friend in the Netherlands who would love to start with the hobby - any help for him would be appreciated :)

I cannot wait for the Al star :3 I'm so excited I'm bragging to anyone I can, and squealing for hours >w<" fan girl stuff~

Once I can I'm planning on some sweet pens I have on my watch list <3

-forgive the double post, idk if I can multi quote in two pages x.x-

Edit: I've seen acidjuicemotel post this just now, but this was my reaction as well
