Okay, here's my first PIF. I'm new to this, so I don't have a stockpile of pens to share and my attempts at getting some that looked decent on ebay haven't really worked, so... how about ink?

I'm offering a 3 month (for those in the U.S.) or two month (for those outside the U.S.) subscription to the Goulet Ink Drop. It's open to everyone whose been a member since at least May 1st. Just drop me a line by May 9th about why you'd like it, and I'll choose someone randomly on May 10th. If you win, I'll need your mailing and e-mail address.

I know this is not as exciting as a lot of offers on here (like that burgundy Parker 51!), but 10-15 new inks to play around with would be fun, right?

I hope so, anyway. :)

Mezzie, welcome to PiFfing, and please don't think yours isn't awesome!

Especially since what you're offering is to give someone a subscription, and to all that inky excitement.

If I hadn't just won some very nice PiFs I'd be sorely tempted to enter... I think it's a wonderful idea, and I may copy you to give something like this to a friend of mine who likes different inks... so thank you!

Mezzie, that is a fantastic PIF. I could even see it spawning additional PIFs if one of the samples in the drop is an ink they already have. You're starting off with a bang!

Never doubt that every PIF is equally exciting, worthwhile and valid, because it is the thought and intent behind PIFing that makes it magic, not the item(s).

Consider a PIF more of a good deed, your gift is actually good will. My first was ink samples and they were definitely appreciated. Never doubt the value of a nice gesture, especially to the lucky recipient!

migo, what an awesome PIF! If I had not gotten a sweet P51 Special (Sage green, medium) just a few months ago, I would be all over this. What a sweet offer. As they say around Boston, "Wicked pissah!"

I am offering a set of ink samples picked from *cough*111*cough* colors. Give me a color or a theme, and I'll send you at least 3 inks to play with, at least 5 mls each. At least one winner selected randomly, one winner selected for an awesome theme suggestion, and one winner selected on some other basis. (Feel free to tell me why you should be picked!) I'll do more people if I can.

First hit is free Newbies encouraged to apply.

Please don't PM me; please email davrosinside instead, using a yahoo.com ending for that email address. It makes my life easier.

The winners of the Tinkerer PIF are as listed (and oddly everyone got their first choice...)

hariharan - Jinhao X450 (Green)
BushPig - Stratford Button-Filler
ellenspn - Jinhao x750 (Silver)
mhguda - Red Ero
I'll be contacting each of you to discuss shipping options if you don't get ahold of me first.
The Light Green Hero, Wingsung 233 and Nibless Serwex are up for grabs
to anyone not on the list who contacts me and can provide for shipping. (domestically in the US I can get them shipped in a padded envelope for $3.50 [could try for less, but I like to make sure even freebies are well protected] even easier if you provide an address via paypal so I can print a first class label directly, something for the winners to consider as well).
Edit: The Yiren 3220 from the previous PIF is also up for grabs.

All of the PIFs have been shipped except one (I've PM'd everyone with tracking numbers for this PIF and the Previous one), if Hariharan doesn't get back to me by wednesday evening the green X450 with the Serwex nib going to be up for grabs.

OK, I have a for parts/tinkering PIF, a Sheaffer Fashion Slim pen in solid medium blue, it's quite a pretty pen and I like the way it looks but it's not balanced right for me (especially when posted) and it seems to have suffered a catastrophic cartridge failure (which may have been user error on my part the first time I tried to use the Slim cartridge, I freely admit). The PIF is the pen, an empty Sheaffer Slim cartridge that may have a leak out the back end, a Monteverde mini converter (rumored to fit the slim pens but I couldn't get it to work) and some regular Sheaffer cartridges so that you at least get something definitely useful. Just to be super clear this pen currently only kind of works although if you replace the cartridge with one that doesn't leak or with the (discontinued) Sheaffer Slim converter I'm sure it will work correctly.

First come first serve, US only because I don't think you could get the necessary parts elsewhere (Sheaffer is exponentially more common in the US than out of it from what I know).

This PIF is closed.

:P I don't know if I mentioned it in the PIF, but I Did smooth that Hero 616 against micro-mesh and mylar paper, it just gets annoying if any fibers get stuck between the tines, but glad you find it smooth... it means I did a good job lol.

When I saw BSB I was like, oh please god don't be in the H616... lol but it's clear which lines are BSB when you get to the bottom. Keep that page around so you can see if it's just as vibrant a week from now (I hear it loses it's vibrancy after bout a week or two).

Artibasos -- I love that super fine line! I may have to find a nib like that.

Everyone else -- thanks for the encouragement. I've had quite a few entries, so I guess it is a decent offer. :)

In ways, the Hero acts slightly like an italic; I really like how it feels to write with! So, yes, you did a good job.

And, don't worry -- no BSB in nice pens. I was forewarned to only put BSB in the free pens that Noodler's sends with the ink. The Hero and Imperial are inked with Noodler's Navy.

It's fun what a difference some inks make depending on line thickness. That Imperial seems to write a fine line similar to my Sheaffer Touchdown Admiral with a Feathertouch Accounting Nib (aside from the Platinum pen, probably the finest line I can produce).

Yea it was ever so slight on the H616, but I didn't wan to push too far, who knows how much tipping is left on it (I didn't do like some people and clip the tipping off, I left that alone , just smoothed it).

Under the FPN rules, we don't have off site reviews. The moderator of this thread may have a different opinion, and could "unhide" the posts. Since I felt that linking to PIF to an offsite blog violated the rules, I have hidden the post and all the posts responding to that post. The member may link the photos and list the PIF terms here.
