One problem with all this discussion is that it pushes PIFs which are actually current back to previous pages.

I wonder if the PIF thread should just contain actual PIFs and winner announcements and a separate thread for discussion?

+1 and sorry for spamming. So should we start a new thread?

It's only a few posts. People will look for PIFs if they want to. But OK I'll stop if you're concerned PIFs might be relegated.

I personally think it should be on a different thread, there are actually NO PIFs on this current page at all.

Back in 2012 the PIF Thread went to 15 pages in the entire year, in 2013 it was 50 pages and this year we are up to 27 pages already and it is only April.

It was much easier to see what PIFs were on offer back in 2012.

Well, that's a real surprise. My previous PIF for a Cultpens Mini brushed metal fountain pen + Herbin cartridges attracted far more expressions of interest than my current PIF for the 2014 S.E Neon Coral Safari + matching Lamy cartridges. I guess you never know with fountain pens eh.

Yes, well I'd love to have this pen & ink and plan to buy it as soon as it's available! A lovely offer.

The more the merrier, as far as I'm concerned. I like recognising 'old friends' who enter my PIFs, as much as I like newbies. As I said above, I do wonder if I'm being unfair, doubting the very new joiners. What can I say - I'm just a flawed human bean ;-)

I think for my next PIF I may ask for them to send a link to there a Welcome new member's post as I think then you can ensure the pen goes to the right person that way.

For me at least part of "use discretion" is will " actually use what is in the PIF. in the case of the neon coral, I really do not know how much i would use the pen in this {dnag??}. So I figure let it go to someone that knows they will like neon coral.

I can actually see this both ways. extra chatter as "noise" to the thread. However, it is also nice to see the thank you notes after a PIF is revived.

I totally agree, the public "Thank you" is very nice.

BUMP

I would enter more PIF's, just my concern of appearing greedy (funny because I wouldn't look upon another that way).

My turn. I have a few pens to pass on. They run the gamut of "cheap" pens. These will all be new, never inked. I found that most often I could order multiples with free shipping for roughly the same amount as a single pen.

Since this is my PIF here are my rules.

Open to all, everywhere, period. If you want to enter for a third party I will give it to you and you may pass it on if chosen.

I need a few lines about what types of pens you like or would like to try. My PIF contains eyedroppers, C/C, squeeze/aerometric "like" and a piston or two. A couple are VERY small. Many I've written a line or two about. Most are Asian (China/India/Pakistan). I also have a know bad pen that I will include with a similar pen for parts. It is metal and cracked, I believe irreparable.

These where all purchased recently.

I will use a random number generator and give preference to who is chosen first, trying to match fill type to request.

Also, the pen of each type I used seemed to be decent pens. The ones I bought that have issues I'm still trying to figure out, like the Hero 360. Somehow that nib could be usable, unless it won't but I'm not giving up yet.

Lastly, one person will get my Favorite (for now) cheap model (Reform 1745 NOS). It is a highly thought of pen and its recipient will not be random. Something someone sends me will let me know. My heart is three sizes to small, so a tender story won't help. Honesty carries a lot of weight with me, so try that. Good luck. Winners announced in two weeks.

Paul

A rough idea of my PIF, though I may duplicate or eliminate some.

kidde, what's the black bullet-shaped pen second from the left? The design almost reminds me of Fisher Space Pens.

Why does that matter? If people want to find a PIF they only have to read back a few posts, a page at most. And a lot of the extra pages are because more people are giving away things, which is nice. Some PIF-related chatter is no big deal.

Okay, here is my earlier PIF, this time with a picture.

Over the past two years or so I have accumulated a whole box full of cartridges. Some where give to me by well-meaning people, many where included with pens. In most cases, you can still make a reasonable guess what color they are, a few are in labelled boxes. There's blue, blue-black, black, red, green, and some other stuff. I don't use cartridges, so I'd be happy to send them out to people who want them. I have Parker (and short Parker), J. Herbin, Pilot, Platinum, no name standard and long Pelikan cartridges. THere are also some blue Sheaffer cartridges.

Ideally, you PM me what type you can use and I just dump a handfull or two in an envelope and mail them to you.

Okay, I used to have the Letter Writers Alliance and The Snail Mail Exchange in here. Somehow, my browsers settings and the forum's settings work together to prevent that from being the case at the moment. Whenever I try to update my signature, the whole process breakls down. So. Whatever.
