Ray:

I edited my post to explain the leak.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

Among other not pen related stuff, I ran across these two:

attachicon.gifspringPIF14.jpg

None of my business, so up for grabs!

The upper one; that colour Stypen, made in France, dip tested and writes nicely to my experience.

The lower one: transparent orange Bruynzeel (a Dutch brand), dip tested and a horrible writer to my experience.

Both come with a cartridge as shown.

The usual small print:

Open world wide.

No restrictions but your own decency if you won a PIF before.

Application for one or another, but not both(!) by PM till coming Sunday 6th of March. Just state why on earth you would like that colour of pen or such a horrible writer.

A high hat, a wagging tail and if necessary a wet nose will decide who wins on Monday 7 or Tuesday 8

Shipping to the winner as usual 'el cheapo' mail (not signed for, not insured).

My experience with the Bruynzeel pens, of which I have several, is different: I actually like them very much. They will also take a converter (standard international). All mine are nice writers, out of the bubble-wrap, so to speak.

Results of my monochrome themed PIF (post # 574)

I've just carried out the draw for my black and white stationery PIF. This was a very popular PIF and I received a lot of entries. Using random.org the winner is:

hbdk :) :bunny01: :)

Congratulations to you. I'll be in touch to get your details.

My next PIF will be up soon - watch this space..........

Congrats hbdk!

New PIF

Preferred Destination : Within the Continental USA

(there's not much sense in asking an international winner to pitch in on shipping

since you can order one of these on ebay for about the same cost as shipping from

the US to most international destinations).

Deadline : Friday, April 4th @ 11:59PM EST

For this PIF I have a Kaigelu 363 in a chrome finish with a gold trim. It's got a tiny bit more weight than a Jinhao 616 but about the same height. Since it's barrel diameter is the same from top to bottom it will fit a large international standard cartridge, but does come with a standard Kaigelu converter with a small metal ball bearing (for agitation).

I'm also including a Waterman Intense Black Large Cartridge if you're new to fountain pens and don't yet have inks. Waterman Intense Black seems to be pretty well controlled even with wetter nibs. This 363 is medium in size, and the nib has a decent wetness to it (pretty wet with something like Noodler's Bad Green Gator).

( Quickie Write Sample next to other pens if you're curious: http://static.karlblessing.com/reviews/paper/rhodia5x5dotpad_front.jpg )

To Enter just shoot me a private message. I'm not expecting any kind of essay or anything, just would like to see this go to someone new to fountain pens user who wants to try out one of the inexpensive Chinese pens with some weight to it.

Very nice!

Happy Friday everyone! :)

Up for grabs for my next PIF is this really neat mini fountain pen, designed by Kaweco for CultPens. It's ideal for slipping into organiser pen loops & robust enough to slip into a shirt pocket or chuck into your bag for quick notes on the go. It might be small but it carries a good weight and feels substantial for its size, due to its all metal construction. It has a smooth FINE Bock steel nib, the same nib that's used by Kaweco on its AL Sport pen and takes an international cartridge, or the tiny Kaweco Sport converter (not supplied). Replacement nibs are available in a range of sizes. It has a brushed metal finish, a screw on cap and a good strong clip. It is nearly new, having been used only twice.

Dimensions are

Barrel diameter: 9.5mm, stepping up to meet the 10.5mm cap

Length capped: 105mm, uncapped: 93mm, posted: 123mm

Weight: 20g

Along with the pen I'll chuck in 6 Herbin Eclat de Saphir blue ink cartridges. This ink looks lovely coming from the nib of this sleek silvery pen.

This PIF is open to all and I will cover worldwide shipping. If you'd like to enter, drop me a PM and tell me in one or two sentences why you want a mini pen.

The closing date for this PIF is Friday 4th April at 7pm British Summer Time.

HALF-TIME BUMP!!

The PIF is NOT this wrap - this is the prototype.

Send me a PM saying:-

1. Why you'd like a new pen wrap,

2. Tell me your favourite colour and

3. I'll make one for you.

I will send Worldwide. :)

Another one in a different colour for you to see

fpn_1395528207__2014-03-22_222846_1024x7

I will draw this on Sunday pm but in the meantime take a look at the Blue ones I made yesterday:-

Let's play a game:

Whoever can guess my first PIF, gets the pen. Ask me a question for clue answerable by yes or no. You can keep asking as long as I say Yes until you score a hit. If I reply No, you're out! One person at a time. If you win, I'll gladly mail it for free. On your mark, get set, go...

Hint: I'm 62 and I'm older than the pen.

Thanks to an a-nonny-moose benefactor, I am offering up to a lucky stub neophyte a Bordeaux red Reform Calligraph, pictured below.

fpn_1388692560__reform_calligraph_13mm_n

fpn_1388692624__reform_calligraph_13mm_n

fpn_1388692647__reform_calligraph_13mm_n

fpn_1388692671__reform_calligraph_13mm_n

The Bordeaux red Reform is quite rare with this nib, especially in this color. It comes near mint, with a gold-plated steel, 1.3mm stub nib and is a piston filler with a clear ink window; the piston works perfectly.

Now here's the catch. I want to give this to somebody who is not familiar with the joys of stubs. Moderators need not apply. Folks who have been members for at least three months, and have really contributed 30+ posts (real posts, not any of the goofy "+1" stuff) are eligible. Obviously, I can't go through checking all yours posts for this, so, be honest, please... I'll leave this running until Jan 12, 2014. May the luckiest win!

Oops, I hit the quote bottom before I saw that I how late I am. ZoniGuana, that's a gorgeous calli. I just bought the Lamy Joy Calli. M. Nib. I'm completely new to Calli. So, this may be a dumb question. Your nib has two breather holes. My nib has no breather holes . Is there a reason for this or does it not matter?
