Giving this a Bump.

I would love some of these, but I asked to be PIFd for another person, and I don't know if I won yet. :(. So I don't want to ask for them, being a poor student, and then have it be known that I won two PIFs without being able to give back yet.

Happy birthday!

Thank you, but it was just a doodle. Can't wait to get a better pen so that I can learn to do this properly! :)

Cheers,

Copying is how I learn to do things like this. If you copy something long enough, it becomes natural and you can begin to incorporate it into your own style.

I'm still learning, but I'm glad people like it :)

Hello All

This is my next PIF and it's all about paper! It's a two-part PIF, each with different paper, each for different geographical locations. I am targeting the 2 parts of the PIF to those areas where the paper is difficult to acquire locally. There are no other restrictions to entry.

PIF 1

(This is for anybody located OUTSIDE the USA & Japan)

I am offering 50 loose sheets of the "legendary" Tomoe River paper. A4 sheets 210mm x 297mm Colour: White (actually slightly off-white).

PIF 2

(This is for anybody OUTSIDE the UK)

I am offering a pad of Duke No 2 size (178 x 137mm) Basildon Bond watermarked writing paper in Blue. The pad has 40 sheets & comes with a guide sheet and a sheet of blotting paper.

To go with the pad I will include a pack of 20 matching Blue No 2 (95 x 143mm) self-seal watermarked envelopes

This PIF will stay open for 2 weeks, until 6pm GMT on Sunday 23rd February. To enter just send me a PM letting me know which PIF you'd like to be entered for, or both if you're eligible. Winners will be selected using a random number selector at www.random.org

Good luck :bunny01:

Okay I think that posted a picture. If it did it was a thank you note to everyone who has helped to make this one of the greatest communities (seriously my sister is so jealous that there aren't any threads or people like this in her nail art forums). The note was written with the osmiroid pen I got from migo984 and the inks I got from alc3261 ( the green ink sample I got has turned out to be one of my favorite inks and my sisters, she tried to steal my pen because of it.)and bluejay and it was written on the cheapest paper you can find.

I received a lot of generous gifts from this community and i hope to pay it back soon with a P.I.F of my own. Does anyone know what shipping will be like when I do decide to do this I would just like to know so I can factor it in.

And once thank you to everyone here.

Cole

P.S

Thank you Apprenti for inspiring to write this note I have been meaning to write it for a while and yours is absolutely amazing I wish I could do that.(And I have to ask what pen and ink did you use?)

I have up for grabs a Parker Frontier with a medium nib. It is burgandy with a black cap, and the burgandy is kind of irridescent - which didn't get captured well in the picture. Cleaned up, and includes the orignal box and the partly used blue cartridge that came with it. It works okay, except I find the sweet spot to be really small and it is just much too broad for me. I've found I tend to prefer Japanese Fine or Medium points . . . so the Parker Medium is just too much. :)

Two rules:

  1. I need a real mailing address in the US (I can ship UPS faster/cheaper than USPS from work, and I don't have to go to the post office - but that means no PO Boxes)
  2. I want it to go to someone that plans to use it.

If at least one person is interested by around 9pm PST Tuesday, I'll pick one and you should have it to play with next weekend.

First pic is the pen in my pen journal with the original writing test. Second pic is from earlier this evening.

The Frontier will certainly find a good home with someone here, thank you for your generosity in offering it.

I have an extra TWSBI Vac 700 nib that I would like to offer up. It may be in need of a minor tweaking of the times, but otherwise it is in good condition. This is part of my culling of all things Vac700 and my final offer in the classifieds will be an amber unit with a broad and a medium nib. No sense in having two broad nibs, so I will offer it here.

PM me a bit about your interest and I'll draw later in the week.

Thank you, it's a Noodler's pen that I tweaked and I'm using Lamy blue-black (thanks Tas!). I really can't recommend the Noodler, it's awful!

Hello FPN,

I've been lurking these forums for over a year and a half without posting (I'm not a very sociable sort!) and I've always had a soft spot for the PIF threads. It just seems like an incredibly cool and kind thing to do! So I thought, for my first post, I would offer up some pens and ink that, upon my mission to thin the herd a little, ended up on the chopping block.

http://i.imgur.com/cYaiyEJ.jpg

From top left to bottom:

Diamine Oxblood: Near-full bottle. Used up maybe 5mL at the very most.

J. Herbin 1670 Rouge Hematite: While the original bottle is very pretty, it is probably the least functional bottle I've ever used, so I would put the ink into this old and much more functional Pelikan 4001 bottle. This bottle is nearly full, so there is about 30mL of ink in there. Please pardon the sloppy writing on the makeshift label. (e: I forgot to mention before, but this is a bottle of the OLD formulation of Rouge Hematite, in all its sheening and clogging goodness, which may change your mind for the better or the worse)

Jinhao Dragon's Offspring: Pen works well, not too much wear on the body. However, the dragon on the clip is missing one of its eyes, and a bit of plating is wearing off the nib. It writes perfectly fine, though, and comes with a converter. The nib is unmarked, but I'd say it writes like a Medium (and if you don't like the nib, it is easily removed and replaced with another #6 nib). The only reason I'm offering this pen up is that it is simply too heavy for me to use!

Cross Aventura (Blue and Chrome, M nib): Writes very well, almost no wear whatsoever save for a few micro-scratches. Doesn't come with a converter, but I removed the pesky spring out of the end of the barrel, so it will fit the push-style Cross converter. Nothing wrong with the pen, I just don't use it or like it enough to warrant keeping it.

Platinum Cool (Clear, F nib): I tried to like this pen, especially since I've enjoyed all the other Platinum pens I've used, but we simply didn't get along. Hopefully you'll like it more! It writes like a Western EF and while it isn't really a semi-flex nib, it does have a little give to it. I used this one the most of the three pens here, so there are some small scratches on the body/cap and a teeny-tiny bit of ink behind the cap insert, but I've otherwise taken very good care of it. I've taken the converter for one of my other Platinum pens... but to make up for that, I will throw in two black Platinum cartridges I haven't (and probably will never) use.

I'm offering this PIF to Canadian citizens only, to keep shipping costs down. First winner gets their pick of the lot, then the rest will be offered to the second, then the third, and so on! I would also prefer these go to a high school/college/university student, and/or an individual who is very new to the fountain pen hobby and has three or fewer pens of their own... but if too few people enter, I will open it up to all Canadians. Please PM me and tell me why you would like to win this PIF. The deadline is Monday, February 17th.

Good luck!

Thank you, top pen! I simply do not use these pens and inks much, so I hope they go to someone (or a few someones) who will enjoy them more.

By the way, I've edited my original post slightly: I realize the winner may not want everything here, so I would be happy to split things up if the first person I choose only wants the inks, or a pen or two, or so on.

Whoever wins that bottle of Diamine is going to be one lucky Canadian. I've been wanting to try it for a few months now but very rarely have a chance to use red since it's the color my teachers use for grading so i just haven't sprung for a bottle yet. And i live in the U.S. Lol

That's a super generous PIF though Drakonis!

Time to take another opportunity to give something back to the forum! I have been using Black and Red books since I was a kid and have found them high quality and good value for money. Its basically black and reds attempt at a high end Moleskin style note book with features including numbered pages, back pocket, 90 gsm Optik paper and book mark ribbon.

This PIF is open internationally with the only restriction being you cant enter if you have won a PIF previously this year. PM me to enter telling me what you would use the book for and I will pick a random entry and post a winner on the 25/02/14.

It will be posted by the cheapest possible way to its new home (reason Im a student).

I got one of these with an Amazon gift card and it arrived at my house today. Mind blown. It's a huge step above the (bleep) I''ve been writing in (whatever I have around) and it's not even that much more expensive. I may exclusively buy these from now on.
