First off, this community is just absolutely awesome. I'm glad I found this forum to add fire to my addiction haha. So, I would like to do my first PIF. I thought that flex pens were for me, it might still be, but not at the moment. Maybe once I really get my feet wet into the fountain pen world, I'll try out flex pens again. I just don't have any use for this pen at the moment. Plus, I'm getting into italic nibs alot at the moment and hopefully will have either a Richard Binder italic nib or a Pendleton italic nib to my collection :P.

The PIF: I will be giving this lovely pen away:

Requirements: I would like to give this fountain pen to a university student, I was going to go for a medical student but I feel like that is a niche within a niche haha. The winner would just have to pay for shipping (national and international). I'll make the drawing at the end of the month so that it'll give people some time to enter :). To enter, just send me a PM with a little bio about yourself and what you're studying!

Will be drawing tomorrow at 6pm EST. All pm not received by 5:00 PM EST will not be considered for this PIF. Good luck :)

OK people. It's time.

One of my twin teenagers and I have just sat down, had a cup of tea (and slice of cake) and read through the gorgeous responses.

We've come up with a list of winners.

crystal_blue - to you the Rotring Art Pen.

Rui - to you the black Waterman Reflex (it's the one with the cursive italic nib).

pandabirdy1 - to you the Lamy Vista and a speedy recovery.

mhguda - to you the green Waterman Reflex.

Apprenti - to you (or your dad) the Lamy Blue Black ink - which worked a treat in all my Noodler's pens and may sort yours out. ;)

Please PM your shipping details and I'll get them wrapped and packed ASAP.

Phew.

Thanks to everyone who applied for your interest and kind words.

I must however think of another way of doing this as the giving away has left a slight tinge of guilt in my heart. For those who weren't chosen. I'm so sorry.

Wow - thank you so much Tas. I've eyed off Lamy Vista's for quite awhile but the last 18 months have been pretty ordinary, (falling off ladder at work, having acl surgery and then my work position being made redundant...)

Can't wait to have a play with the Vista.

That puts a spring in my step! :bunny01:

Please don't feel guilty - you should be feeling just the opposite for being so generous!

(Thanks to your teenager too.)

I hope to do some PIF's when things get a bit more on track.

Thanks Tas!

And I will post some of my dodgey writing when I receive the pen!

MIDORI-CLONE PASSPORT SIZE NOTEBOOK

Hi All

My next PIF is for a Midori-clone passport size notebook. It is exactly the same as the notebook in this post except that it is dark brown. It is brand new and unused.

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/255121-midori-passport-clone/

It includes a plain notebook and a undated diary insert. It comes in a cream cotton canvas bag.

This is the actual notebook:

This PIF is open to anyone who hasn't won a PIF in the last 12 months. I'd like it to go to someone who hasn't got a Midori notebook cover or similar. Other than that there are no restrictions or eligibility criteria. I will post outside the UK.

If you're interested please send me a PM. The closing date is 6pm GMT Sunday 9th February.

Verba volant, scripta manent

Just bumping this again. You get to pick lining colour, stitching colour, number of slots and even things like extra compartments, flaps, poppers etc etc etc. Not had much interest so far, possibly because the prototype's a bit messy? I can guarantee that the finished product WON'T be, I did the above in a couple of hours.

Thanks to everyone, have a great weekend!!!

Joe

Sold! To the man in the red coat ;)

The lucky winner is r-James, and we're discussing options now. To those who didn't get picked and still want one, I've listened to you and I'm going to start selling these (the first few will be of a lower price I think).

All the best,

Joe

That is a beautiful color! I gotta get it!

It is indeed a beautiful colour. However that photo isn't really colour accurate. The real thing is rather brighter, more vibrant. At least when using my monitor to compare (my monitor hasn't been fully calibrated but it's IPS so it should be somewhat accurate).

It is a lovely well-behaving ink though. I find it a bit too bright for note taking, but perfect for everything else.

I am not quite sure how all of this works as this is my first PIF, but I would like to offer up an unused bottle of a Dromgoole exclusive Noodlers ink, Texas Blue Bonnet. Hopefully I will be able to post a writing sample later this weekend, but I need to get my camera or scanner to work before that can happen. This PIF is for USA only. Please PM me with a number 1-100 and I will use a random number generator and the closest will get the bottle.

If you are over seas and would like to cover the shipping cost, please feel free to enter and state that in the PM and we will work something out.

Good Luck and there will be many more PIFs to come!

The drawing will be next Friday 24-Jan-2014.

Just wanted to bump this back to the front! I will be picking the number tonight (around 8 or 9 CST) if anyone else wants in on it. I have about 10 entries so far. Good luck!

Sorry that I have been MIA on my PIF! Something came up and I had to be away from my computer for a few days. The winning number is 75 which means that mmkoenecke is the closest with 73. Congrats and I will reach out to you via PM for contact info. Enjoy!

Every one else, thank you for your interest and there will be more PIFs to come!

Joe is such a wonderful chap when I am back up and running financially after being sick for 4 months I promise to send out a couple of PIF packages myself. All good deeds must be repaid

Hellooooo! Today I would like to offer up my first PIF! There's two things that I would prefer to go to separate homes:

First is a Fabriano ecoqua (I think that's spelled right) notebook. It measures 3.5"x5.5", is orange, unlined, staple bound. I estimate there are 48 pages or so, with all the pages in the second half being perforated. I love this paper, it's taken well to all the FPs I have so far, so much so that I use one of these notebooks as an ink journal.

Next is a homemade Midori-like cover. It's sized for pocket notebooks, 3.5"x5.5". There's enough elastic loops inside for four notebooks, though I've never put that many in there. The Midori style just didn't suit me, so I would like to pass this along to someone else who will get more use out of it. The leather is very thick and study and has a few wear marks, but that gives it some character. The elastic currently on it is bright blue for the notebook holders and orange for the closure, with a blue and white bead on it. I realize these colors may not be everyone's jam, so I'm more than happy to change out the colors. The colors I have are in the last picture.

I'm going to limit these to entries from within the US, since I'm in school right now and international shipping is a bit hefty. If you are interested in either of them, please PM me and let me know 1) which one you want (it's ok to say both), and 2) your favorite ink+pen combo. I'll give everyone a number, and then randomly pick a number next Sunday, Jan 26. :-)

Alright, the time has come to announce winners! :-)

The notebook is going to Brier, and the cover is headed to bumpyroads! I'll be sending out PMs momentarily for your addresses. Thanks for the nice messages everyone! Hopefully I'll have something else to offer soon.

I'm happy to have won this! I'm looking forward to having a good unlined notebook to use for free writing when I don't want to feel stuck within the lines of a page and want to play with size, angle of the writing, and so forth. Thank you again, Yogalarva!

Hello, all!

New fountain pen user here! I am a high school English teacher. I use my Pilot Metropolitan and Lamy Safari to grade papers and to write my grandmother weekly letters! We are new pen pals! :)

I don't have much, but I would love to share what I do have.

I only have two inks right now, but I would love to share samples of them if anyone is interested. I have a bottle of Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku and a bottle of J. Herbin 1670 Rouge Hematite.

Like I said, it's not much, but they are beautiful colors and I have had SO MUCH FUN writing with them!

I'd love to share that feeling with someone else if you are interested.

Send me a PM if you would like a sample vial of one or both and I will draw a random person from the responders in a few days.

Thanks!

I know it's not a lot, but I figured I'd send out a final reminder. :) Would anyone else like to be considered for a sample vial of Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku and a sample vial of J. Herbin 1670 Rouge Hematite?

PM me if you are interested. I will wait until after this time tomorrow to draw.

Thanks!
