Aggie - of course!

Marie - I'd been wanting to do it for a while. It's nice to be able to thank such a great community.

Got some new fabrics today, loads of colours to choose from. Number of pen slots and design aspects can be discussed with me :)

Sorry for the low quality pictures. This is my prototype case. It's very hurried because I needed a case by the next day and it's a prototype. The PIF case I'm offering will be better and YOU get some say in how I make it! I've already had a little bit of interest, but I'm holding off until I get some more responses.

Cheers,

Joe

I know, I know I just posted 30 seconds ago. That is how your brain is when you are tired. I have one more congrats. alc3261 wonderful inks from Cyber6. Now I am gone, but when I come back I think I'll finally work up the nerve to do my first PIF. Now, hold yourselves back it isn't a MB, Pelikan, or Visconti. In fact, it may not be A pen.

Ok.. so... One of the BEST PIF'er of 2013 and the winner to a set of AWESOME Australian Exclusive Inks.. is...... (drum roll please..... )

******* alc90210 ******* .. I kid... I kid... I meant... ******** alc3261 ******** :D :D

FYI.... this pack of sample inks where carefully carried by a gentle Kangaroo from Queensland (Justwrite.com) to the care of my friend in South Australia. Then it traveled from South Australia to India to attend a wedding. The inks were given to the custody of my Canadian friend who was actually getting married. When the glorious event was completed, the Ink followed its merry way from India to Paris for a quick honeymoon. From Paris, it came back to the real world via Air Canada to Toronto. And now, from Toronto it will find its final destination in the glorious UK where my dearest Alc will provide them with a warm and safe place to call home

Alc, please forgive them if they are a little jet lagged... I am sure they will perform quite well in not time. ;)

So they arrived today!! (Cyber6 gave them to a friend coming to the UK and they posted them on to me from within the UK - thus the very quick delivery!!) :D

If you've ever wanted a good "dried blood" colour, try 2:1 Sienna and crimson. I just got some toucan inks myself and think they're baller :)

Just to update you all. Empyral did get in contact with me about the Esterbrook PIF they won. So a SJ Esterbrook is on it's way to Ohio with 5 ink samples.

Thanks to everyone else for their interest.

The inks are still available. I don't think I'll be able to ship them (time constraints), but if anyone wants to come pick them up, I'll be in town through next Friday, and after that in the suburbs until I leave for China on the 11th.

I'm moving to China in a month and can't reasonably take eight bottles of ink with me, so I'm offering the following inks for FREE in Chicago. I don't have time to ship these, so this is for Chicago locals only, for pick up in my neighborhood (just north of Logan Square)

  • Iroshizuku Tsuyu-kusa
  • Iroshizuku Kiri-same
  • Private Reserve Ebony Purple
  • Diamine Sunset
  • Sailor Sei Boku blue-black
  • Parker Quink blue-black

These are all great inks. All partially used but at least 3/4 full, nothing wrong with them aside from being dead weight for me at the moment. I'm taking Waterman black and Sailor Jentle blue-black, all else goes out the door. If one person wants to come and grab all of them at once, that would be easiest for me. PM me if you're interested!

Last year an intended ink and pen pif went procrastinated and all of a sudden it's 2014. So, no more procrastination and here I go again.

Up for PIF:

A.: Some 8 Pelikan violet cartridges.

B.: Two sections, one FP,, one ballpoint but both take ink cartridges. FP section mesures ± 12mm Ø at the barrel end, the biro section 10mm. I have no clue on the brand or how I ever got them or why.

C.: 4 Dip pen nibs, 3 types.

D.: 5 Dip pen nibs, all the same type, just like the upper (and down) model of C

E.: A notebook, 14½*9 cm by Brill publishers, with on the cover some of the more exotic characters of their typeface (see www.brill.nl/brill-typeface)

Just PM me, state what you want and why, you may opt for all or some or one, BUT I try to make more people happy.

The small print:

These PIFs are open for everyone everywhere.

PIF ends next week Friday 31.

Lucky winners will be chosen at random by the nose of my dog on Saturday February 1.

All mail will be sent 'el cheapo'.

Time for my latest PIF!

First up is a Baoer 801 Matt Black. It was delivered about 30 minutes ago. I inked it and decided that I'd prefer to PIF it. It has a great, smooth M nib. However the nib is quite wet so it will need a little adjustment. The build quality is also great with full metal including the barrel thread. The converter seems good as well, it's a bit heavier than you'd expect, but a nice weight. It is slimmer than I was expecting and the metal section is a bit slippery and also thinner than I was expecting. Therefore I don't find it that comfortable and would rather that it goes to someone who will enjoy it. I'd say that it is a fantastic pen for someone who is into slimmer pens. It certainly looks amazing.

Secondly we have the good old Camlin Elegante which is a fairly cheap Indian pen but the price belies the quality. It's got a great F nib and while it is not a metal pen like the Baoer, it is still good quality is trusted by many a fountain pen user. I have two of them and only want to keep one so the other one I will PIF. You can check out the review by Hari317 here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/238179-camlin-elegante/

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj582/hari-317/Camlin%20Elegante/IMG_8091.jpg

I will ship both of these pens to one person anywhere in the world. Since they are inexpensive fountain pens, I'd prefer that they go to someone who either can't afford to spend any money on a fountain pen, or has really wanted to try these pens but is not able to get hold of them. The former will get preference. So send me a PM letting me know if you're interested and I will decide in the next week or so. Possibly sooner as I am impatient :D

Some really generous PIF's here can't deny I'm tempted by many. But I think I really need to PIF more of my stuff before I can justify taking up other's offers.

I don't think that's the right attitude to have towards PIF (though it's good that you're thinking about it). If you have a lot that you can give, then that's fine. If you don't then you should just give what you can. There's a parable in the Bible about a woman who donates a very small amount to the offering fund. She's ridiculed by Jesus' disciples, but Jesus just says (essentially) that she's giving as much as she can and she'll be blessed for that. Those who give a lot (but not compared to what they own) and do it for attention are the ones in the wrong.

Your offering doesn't have to be big, so long as you're not greedy and you give what you can.

Have a great weekend!

Joe
