Thanks for sharing your art with us! Nice ink bottles tas! If I were to draw ink bottles for each ink I own, I'd draw 2 bottles of black ink HAHHAHAHA!

Cheers,

Kevin

TAS, really nice creative flare. I have always admired this in others and wished I had more of that spark myself. Would you be willing to point us to some of the pieces you've drawn/painted (maybe in another thread you could start or point to)? I would love to take a peak and am sure many here would as well!

Sorry, don't mean to hijack the purpose of the thread!

Rob, thanks for your kind words.
I don't pretend to be any good at sketching - however I REALLY enjoy it and try to sketch something (anything) everyday.
Whilst I've lurked in the background for ages on this fantastic forum, I started taking an active part in November. A few of my sketches are on my favourite thread from about here onwards:

All the best,
Tas.

I've been catching up on threads I have missed since the holidays and I am so pleased to see how many PIFs there already are and it's only the 14th!

Here's my first PIF of the year. I have a set of Pilot Parallels, all four sizes plus a custom ground 1mm, and some cartridges in various colors. I bought them with the hopes that I would get better at calligraphy, but it's just not happening and I don't have the time it requires to practice, so there's no sense in keeping them. Ideally, I would like to have someone from the US who is just getting into calligraphy or could use these for artistic purposes. They do have some pretty neat color mixing capabilities. PM me with your name and if there's any interest I will do a drawing on Sunday.

Hello all! Just a quick reminder about this PIF. I plan to do the drawing sometime this evening, so if you are interested PM me. I have received four PMs so far.

It's time. I ended up with seven entries, to which I randomly assigned numbers. Then I went to random.org and generated a number from 1 to 7. The number was 5, which I had assigned to crystal_blue. PM me your address, and a set of Pilot Parallels and ink cartridges will be on its way to you Tuesday, since there's no mail tomorrow.

Dear Forum

I would also like to give something away. I have the "Spencerian copybooks" volumes 1,2,3,5 to give away.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61xILuiJsqL._SX258_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg

I will ship these worldwide free of charge to someone who shows a interest in calligraphy. Please PM me until the 20th of January, and I will choose a winner of these four books based on a sophisticated algorithm B).

Hi,

Is this PIF still available? I PM'd you a while ago but it's still showing as unread.

Just wanted to check things are alright,

Joe

Hi Tas,

18% grey card is indeed the correct shade for one to be neutral for photographic exposure.

I still have one of the Kodak 18% grey cards that they used to sell some decades ago.

The bottles you have drawn were a great idea and I might be tempted to do exactly that for a colour catalogue if you do not mind.

Kind regards,

Rui

Go for it - Can't wait to see yours!
I used the horizontal lines to see how much of the ink washes away with the water and also to see how saturated an ink was.

Big grin :vbg: knowing they're being appreciated by others.

Definitely, I can't afford to 'test' inks so your chart is very helpful in judging which to try and which to not try :)

I was going to put up a PIF for a Midori Passport clone (exactly the same as mports post here https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/255121-midori-passport-clone/ ) but I just noticed that yogalarva already has a PIF open for a handmade Midori-style cover. It's only fair to hold back and post my PIF once hers closes on 26th.

So watch out for mine next week.

I was surprised at the number of people interested in these books, good to see so many people interested in beautiful scripts :)

My sophisticated algorithm turned out to be a simple random number generator, selecting a number from 1 to 12, the numbers where assigned in the order of pm received. Number 5 was chosen, which made Apprenti the winner. Thank you all for participating and I hope you do learn spencerian as well.

First off, this community is just absolutely awesome. I'm glad I found this forum to add fire to my addiction haha. So, I would like to do my first PIF. I thought that flex pens were for me, it might still be, but not at the moment. Maybe once I really get my feet wet into the fountain pen world, I'll try out flex pens again. I just don't have any use for this pen at the moment. Plus, I'm getting into italic nibs alot at the moment and hopefully will have either a Richard Binder italic nib or a Pendleton italic nib to my collection :P.

The PIF: I will be giving this lovely pen away:

Requirements: I would like to give this fountain pen to a university student, I was going to go for a medical student but I feel like that is a niche within a niche haha. The winner would just have to pay for shipping (national and international). I'll make the drawing at the end of the month so that it'll give people some time to enter :). To enter, just send me a PM with a little bio about yourself and what you're studying!

Howdy Tas,

That is so very " artful " of you. I feel a tremedous amount of work went into you " ink chart ". Personally, I haven't a creative hair on my head. But you have more than your share.

Then your up-keep.

What a great community,

Ok, I'm offering up my first PIF:

A semi-custom pen wrap handmade by me.

The only condition is that recipient pays postage (unless they want to wait a couple of months) as I don't have any spare money atm. There are pictures in the 'Making a pen case' thread of my prototype but the finished product will be much neater, promise! I'll post pictures of the rough prototype later so that you get an idea.

Also, I've got leather but I may have to get some fabric. Bear with me because I'm a student so it may take a while.

For a chance to win the PIF, PM me with why you want the pen wrap, who you are, what your occupation/current education is etc etc etc. The deadline is: when I pick someone (I'll allow a while so that people get a chance to enter).

Thank you to whoever thought of this thread!

Joe

Howdy,

Congratulations to Apprenti for the Spencerian copy books offered by Flaviocu! How about some samples after a few months' practice?

Joe

It's wonderful to see you offering your own PIF, following your recent PIF wins. That's exactly how this thing is supposed to work - spreading the goodwill :)
