Pay It Forward 2014

Got my crisp italic snakeskin Rex on Friday, and snapped in a cart from a simply awful Staedtler calligraphy set; the converter started leaking after only a few fills, the caps do not do much to prevent drying out, and the tips of the nibs in that set are clearly rectangles, rather than lines, which really limits line variation. Anyway, it came with 24 ink carts that are all made from colored plastic which doesn't accurately convey the color of the ink. This one was pale orange, but the ink within was a fiery red. And I can see it through the transparent section! I've already written out half the cart, and I do not like red ink for body text.

Between a bit of naked-eye nib realignment, the copper cent trick, and writing on the cardboard back of my notebook, I was able to reduce the scratchiness quite a bit. This pen has seriously interfered with my perceived need for a 0.8mm stub Nemosine Singularity, so I really am very grateful, Alex.

By the way, what was the ink you used for the message?

Nemosine italic nibs are not crisp italics at all. Both the .6 and .8mm nibs are very smooth in my experience. Perhaps you will find interest in cursive italic nibs if you still like the variation achieved by the Rex.

So sorry for the lateness of this post. I've been traveling and didn't have time to do the Konrad PIF before leaving. The hat has spoken and the winner is ScottT. Congrats!

Caretaker for a bevy of Swans.

Wow, that was fast. I was just going to pipe up to say how awesome this ink powder is, but obviously, no need...

I think people have been following some of our antics, Amber!

Anyway, whoever it was that was so fast, enjoy the fruits of your vigilance, it is well worth it. This ink is seriously nice, and the fact that it sells as a powder helps keep the mailing costs around the world reasonable...

Great PiF, Amber!

a fountain pen is physics in action... Proud member of the SuperPinks

I got lucky on that - hit the refresh button and click on the thread probably a minute after Amber posted the ink. I'm excited to win the ink and am looking forward to trying it out!

I'll be doing more in the future.....I think it's sort of an instant gratification thing... well as much as it can be when you still have to wait for the mail.

PIF to the first person who PMs me. Recipient to pay shipping fees.

This is for the black and gold pen NOT the Sheaffer which is a present for someone on the boards.

I opened it up today and it doesn't have a nib. This is for tinkering only.

I can probably be convinced to throw in a few sheets of paper too.

Here's another PIF. This one will be open worldwide. The pen itself is not particularly exciting looking, but I've ground what I think is a cool italic nib. Dimensions: Posted 154mm, unposted 119mm, Capped 134mm, Body 11mm, Grip thinnest 9mm. It takes standard international cartridges and will also take a Delta converter (not incuded).I'm not a professional nibmeister by any stretch (so it won't be very pretty), but I've tried to grind the nib so that it works well at almost any angle.

This PIF will close on Sunday at 11:59 ET at which time the winner will be randomly drawn. You may enter both the notebook PIF and this one but may only win one.
