Pay It Forward 2014

It's my turn to do a PIF, in honor of Fountain Pen Day...

WHO

This PIF is open to FP veterans and newbies, alike, but preferably will go to someone who has never owned a piston filler and could appreciate the smaller size of this pen.

WHAT

A NOS Reform 1745 pen with a lovely, springy nib. I may have dipped it at one point to try the nib, but this pen is otherwise unused, although there may be microscratches from storage and handling that were already there even before I got it. This is a great pocket-sized pen, a fabulous writer that holds a ton of ink.

I am afraid that the camera on my phone is not the best (and the skills of photographer is not so great either). The pic below does not do it justice.

WHERE

Open worldwide, I will pay for basic USPS shipping.

HOW

Send me a PM stating why you would like this pen. I will assign you a number in order of receipt, and the winner will be chosen using random.org.

WHEN

Deadline is Sunday, 11.59 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Best of luck!

There were a total of 16 entrants for this PIF and the drawing was performed using the random number generator on Random.org.

And the winner is: jay.is.here!

2 pens!

Both for one newbie! (New to FPs, who only has one or two or three FPs, but who is loving the hobby and wants to try and use more.)

Who has never won a PIF before!

1. Haolilai 661A, purple. I reviewed it here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/263053-haolilai-661a-a-very-informal-handwritten-review/

2. Rotring Art Pen with 1.5 mm nib, just like this one: http://www.jetpens.com/Rotring-ArtPen-Calligraphy-Pen-1.5-mm/pd/6641?gclid=COHLz9Tb7sECFQwzaQodHxIAPw

Both pens take international cartridges; there is a converter included with the Haolilai. Both are good pens, but they aren't getting much action in my rotation and I am feeling a bit gluttonous by hanging onto them right now. So they should go to a new home where they will be used.

To be considered, PM me and include:

-Your name

-A little bit about how you got into FPs.

-Something interesting about yourself.

-Your mailing address.

Winner will be picked randomly.

I'm curious - how long will you keep this PIF open?

The Mabie-Todd reference book PIF is now closed.

After tallying up the total entries (10) and then consulting Random.org it appears that Cob is the winner.

Congrats!

Cob, Please send me a PM and we'll arrange logistics to get this book to you.

Thanks all for your entries.

Looking for: Camlin pens (minus SD/Trinity/Elegante)

This PIF is open to those in the U.S. only due to shipping costs.   1)  Camlin 36 eyedropper - this was a very kind gift from a fellow PIF member that unfortunately gets too little use.  Fine nib with a tad of spring to it, the feed could probably benefit from heat seating.   2)  Jinhao 599 - the all brass body of the pen gives it some surprising heft, and it writes well, but given the abundance of Lamy's in my collection it sees no real use.  I have converter for this pen, but will include some standard international cartridges to the winner.   I will keep this open until Sunday the 16th before randomly drawing a winner.

Nothing fancy here.

I bought this Sustainable Earth notebook in an effort to go cheaper and be kinder to the environment (supposedly) and unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I know some folks like this sugarcane paper, however so thought I'd ask if anyone wants it before it becomes a two-year old's toy.

I'll toss in the translucent green Parker Vector (F) while I'm at it. I haven't used the pen in mumble-mumble years so can't say what it is like. It's a Vector. I'm sure it's smooth enough, just too small for me.

No magic. Just be the first in the Continental US to PM me and include:

-Your name
-Your mailing address.

-The reason why you are the most deserving person in the universe for these outstanding items--in fifteen words or less. Or you can just tell me you're happy to take this off my hands so it is put to good use. :D

Taken. Thanks much for looking.

Best,

KC
