Hmm... that is a very good price for the m1000 nib unit. It (m1000) is certainly longer but I don't know if it bigger/smaller than the #8.

yes, the bare M1000 nib measures 40mm long and 10mm wide. If I am able to get hold of a JoWo #8 I will report back.

Thanks. Can you get an m1000 nib into a Hawk?

I will have to see. Initial measurements indicate that it should be possible.

I take it that you have already seen the Kambar Mark 1 and 2 and the Postable Kambar fitted with M1000 nib units?

Yes I have. Nice but I prefer the torpedo shape and slightly smaller. P

no harm in having such preferences. :)

If I am able to shoehorn the m1000 unit in, nothing like it. I love tinkering anyway. if I have any results, I will be posting them here.

It was challenging to accommodate the M1000 nib unit given the compact size of the Kuyil but I think the result is well worth it?

Comments welcome!

Now that sir, is a pen. That looks awesome. Congrats! I do want one, but in a Hawk.

What size nib comes with this pen? I really like the pen but not the F nib. I could easily swap a Goulet #6 nib into it if it fits.

a no 6 (35mm) nib. FWIW, the seller asapens has aftermarket german nibs available in M and B the last time i checked.

Based on comments by Shawn, the JoWo #8 is about 35mm long, so shorter than an M1000, MB149 or Bock 380 nib, but similar in width.

do you mean the bare length of the nib outside the housing ? can you post a link as to where you read this?

Here's the thread:

So length outside the housing, but if those nibs really are 40mm long then they're seated unusually deep.

The Kuyil sure looks beautiful.

May I ask can I just simply swab a Goulet/JoWo number 6 nib (if it is friction fit) or I have to get a whole "nib unit".

Many thanks,

Hi Piggy, the stock nib and feed are friction fitted, so you can simply buy just a JoWo #6 nib and fit it to your pen. The seller ASA also has replacement Bock nibs that he will fit for you if you ask and buy the upgrade. You don't need to buy a complete nib unit. HTH.
