Please Help With Identification Mb 4810

Hi guys,

I bought this pen at the marché aux puces in Poland for $3 I am not the MontBlanc expert, so I am no sure what the model is. On the cap I can read: "4810" and below: "MONTBLANC//\\MEISERSTUCK". The pen has other imprints, but I can't read them in all. Something is on the barrel, but completly unreadable and on the head of piston (photo no 5)... maybe 2F, EF and D, but I am not sure.

I think that body was made of black rubber. Pen has 18ct gold nib, marked 25 with MB logo.

Anybody knows what model this is, when was made and what it's worth? Much more than $3?

While I could be very wrong, I think you have a Montblanc 25 (probably with an EF nib) based on the nib and piston knob numbering; if there is a "D", it stands for "Duplicate", meaning the nib was stiffer in order to write duplicate copies. FYI, I found a similar pen on penboard.de (scroll down to "Montblanc no. 25 with a long record of repairs and restorations") although this differs in the fact that your cap has 2 gold bands whereas the Penboard model doesn't. (FWIW, I could be very wrong about the pen...other experts will chime in, I'm sure)

 

If it is a MB 25, congratulations! You've got a very good pen, which is one of the earlier MBs. While I have no idea of its worth, it's probably worth contacting Max Schrage or Francis Goosens to see about restoring it just in case you decide to sell it.

 

PS: I'll offer you $15 for it! (hey, that's 5x what you paid...)

no, its one of those early Montblanc Fakes, I will give you $3 for it so you are not out of pocket, I will then ensure its disposed of through the proper channels

I too believe you have a Montblanc 25, probably from the 1930's. It looks to be a push knob filler-a very interesting filling mechanism. It works like a button filler but the blind cap does not come off. I would contact fountainbel (Francis) on this board and send it in for any necessary repairs and cleaning. I have a coral red 25 that I sent to Francis and he did a beautiful job on it. Congrats-and yes your pen is worth many multiples of the 3$ you paid. What a fantastic find!!

If I was you I would contact Francis to see how much it would cost to get your pen back to working order. The filling mechanism isn't currently working as you can see in the picture where you have unscrewed the section
