I accept the "scholar" but not the "sir" or "gentleman". Lady, possibly ;) And you are very welcome :-)

It does look a nice nib.

Apologies for the assumption! :)

Now, I'd never thought of The Spire being added...

Now I'm intrigued. I have a bottle of this, which I bought based on my memory of using Stephens' Radiant Blue back in my school days, and have wondering about the 'secret ingredient' they refer to. So, what is this 'Twisted Spire' you speak of?

Sorry; a bit of a joke with Lapis. TS is a pale 'bitter' bitter made by one of our local breweries. One of my favourites.

When I received my bottle of Radiant Blue, the weather had been on the chilly side, and when I opened the box, I could see the slight condensation around where the original Diamine label had been on the ink bottle top. I think it could start out life as Royal Blue or one of their inks that's similar but I don't know for sure.

But this is Twisted Spire and I'm certain of its contents!

Cheers!

Umm... I have no idea. You'll have to ask our captain. I think he made the secret ingredient so as to inaugurate a swift ascent upwards from the earthy 3.6%

Hello to one and all,

As a recent subscriber to the Fountain Pen Network, I'd like to thank all those who give their time to help those of us that are far less informed!

Like many others, I am in search of the most brilliant blue possible and Radiant Blue from Diamine/Mr Pen seems to be a very good candidate. I'm wondering if other users have experiences to share since this thread was started?

Thanks,

Teffen.

Well, there's still Noodler's Baystate Blue (BSB) around.... Reviews as of today:....

Baystate Blue (1940s series, high water resistance) Mafia Geek's review, mhphoto's review, Bubba Dog's review, TheOriginalStevenH's review, dizzypen's review, politovski's review carpedavid's review, Philip1209's review, arsimoun's review, WhosYerBob's review, WhosYerBob's review follow-up, Stephen-I-am's review, Bill Smith's review, Philip 1209's 2nd review, Gehaha's review, HenryLouis's review, penguinmaster's review, Signum1's review, I am not a number's review, Inka's review, ladyambrosia's review, Alexandra's review, withoutink's review

This ink has several outstanding properties (chemically and physically speaking), some of which are oriented more negatively than positively. I myself don't like it simply because for me it's too brilliant, somewhat eye-searing, like a neon light.

Thank you very much, Lapis, for taking the trouble to compile these reviews. My overall impression is that Baystate Blue is indeed in the colour range that I am looking for but there seem to be some problems because it is very alcaline, it stains and may have other problems. I'm looking for something more pen-friendly!

I don't mind if the colour is garish, lurid, loud, over-bright, glaring, harsh, violent, flashy, showy, glittering, brassy, ostentatious or even vulgar. In fact these are the qualities that I am looking for! Lol!

What i want is the blue at the top right of this page, the titles just below "FPN quick navigation": a colour like this: Our New FPN 2015 LE Pen!

Has anyone any idea if Radiant Blue is close to this??

I use it in a Lamy 2K without issues.

Don't let it dry out and pen maintenance every 3 weeks.

I am doubtful you will find anything as garish, harsh and loud. laugh.png

Just choose a pen to dedicate to BSB and enjoy the attention. I'd suggest a 'B' nib.

OTOH, to double the 'loudness and vulgarity', I use it with a OBB nib. wink.png

Thank you very much 1nkulus for this reply! I had a good laugh reading it! I hope others did too! We seem to have the same taste in ink colours though not everyone seems to share them! Lol!

Nevertheless, I'm hoping that Radiant Blue will be as bright etc. as Baystate Blue. I'd like to have a few more comparisons to base my purchase on. You can't buy samples of Radiant Blue only whole bottles — the postage for me would be more than the cost of the bottle, something I find a bit discouraging concerning an ink that I don't know much about.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Get BSB till you can source the Radiant Blue. Also, BSB is water proof and forgery resistant.

I usually tend to go against the grain and have not yet found a 'bad ink' per se.

IMO, 'bad ink' just means frequent and thorough pen maintenance.

I have used Noodler's in MB pens numerous times, to which most people will go yikes.gif
