Florida Blue:

Excellent review! Thank you.

I was very taken with the unusual sleek design of these pens and have a couple of them. The nibs indeed write very smoothly. Here are some additional thoughts and red-flags to consider for fellow FPN visitors.

1. I agree that the unusual clip is quite an interesting feature but sometimes the clip suffers from those who attempt to use it without following instructions. So, if readers of this review are considering purchasing a used Verve, one may want to verify, prior to purchase, if the clip is functioning properly.

2. If the Verve has received a lot of use, one potential red flag is that the barrel may not fit snugly with the cap as it was when it was new. One Verve I purchased off the Bay had this slightly loose cap problem.

3. For those who want to preserve the finish on these beautiful pens, it is best to use them without posting the cap. If posted frequently, the cap can leave a circle of wear on the finish. I have seen this wear at some used Verves displayed at pen shows. And I suspect frequent posting may be a factor in lossening of the cap, but I don't know for sure if this is the cause.

Despite these potential flaws, I think this is quite a stunner and am most pleased with the pen's overall performance.

I'm glad you enjoyed my review Bennett, thanks!

Also, thanks for the additional comments. I had read about the problems with the clip before. Mine seems to work fine, but I think my pen was probably rarely used by it's previous owner/owners. A lot of Verve owners don't seem to know how to operate the clip and others have complained that it's not very sturdy or secure. I don't usually use the clips on my pens (my pens are mostly desk/home pens), but I know it's an important feature for many users.

The finish was something that concerned me as well and I really should have mentioned it in my review. There are a few scratches in the finish and I would also recommend not posting the pen. I think posting would probably add more scratches in the finish. It's fat and long enough that it really doesn't need to be posted anyway.

I'm very pleased with my Verve so far.

Great review of a really interesting and attractive pen! Definitely one of the best Cross pens, imo.

Thanks Harlequin! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I agree, this is one of the best pens that Cross has ever come out with. It's a shame it wasn't popular when it was still being sold.

Good review! I own one as well, unfortunately wit a nig a bit finer than I would have liked.

Good pen, my biggest issue with it is that the cap gets loose to easy.

An yes, as you state: Cross really over-prices its pens. They are great, but only if discounted or second hand. Cross really should reconsider its marketing strategy, I think.

Latest additions: Aurora Dante Inferno (B), Graf Von Faber Castell Classic Wood Ebony (OM), La Couronne Du Comte Willem van Oranje (M), Montblanc Writers Edition Cervantes (M), Aurora Optima Cento Riflessi Limited Edition (B)

Thanks mirko! I'm glad you enjoyed my review.

I haven't had that issue with my cap yet, but I will keep an eye out for it. Actually, I don't think Cross pens are overpriced at all. I generally see them as a good value among modern pens, especially with their gold nib models. I was just remarking that I got an excellent price on the pen from eBay (mostly because the seller didn't know what it was). However, it's pretty easy to find Cross pens at discount. All of mine (except for the Verve) were purchased new at hefty discounts off of the MSRP.
