Learning Italic

During the resurrection of my missing posts a while ago, I seem to have missed this one. As there were a couple of comments concerning it, I'm posting it again here, to maintain continuity.

KaB - it is great that you are identifying individual elements in your writing and focusing on fixing the errors. This is a great way to improve.

The last line (obviously getting tired) is well written. The spacing in 'getting' is nice.

Salman

Thanks for pointing out a positive thing I hadn't noticed at all (the spacing in getting), also a way to improve!

This was written as a descriptive panel for a local Art Gallery for fixing to the back of a painting.

The lettering is a little bit squarer than usual (extended), giving it a slightly squat look - this was intentional!

That is, as usual, staggering work, Ken.

I'm learning Italic :D .

Wow, it looks like you've got it down! What is that other blackletter-ish calligraphy? (And is there an exemplar of it somewhere?)

I need to write and scan a sample of my italic now and from when I just started, a few months ago. But not now because my kids are climbing all over me. ;p

Thank you. I also learn Fraktur from Joan Quiros, Luca Barcelona, Tolga Girgin ....Here is Joan Quiros.

Looking forward to seeing from you your handwritting Italic.

Great start! This is what my writing looked like when I started 3 months ago:

And this is what I wrote last week (top) and this afternoon (bottom):

Not bad considering my kids are usually shaking the table or running around like wild beasts when I am trying to write, but I am never at a loss of what to write -- they always say such goofy things. ;D I need to work on letter consistency, slant, and spacing. But I'm getting better.

And thanks to whomever suggested using a template. I printed one up and working with it under my paper makes a huge difference.

Amazing improvement. I can only hope to pick up the same speed...

If you are married to me, this is the kind of note you get left when I go out with the kids.

(The exploding cucumber is a plant.)

I need to work on the letters e and s especially. And spacing and slant. And consistency. But I'm getting better.

Still waiting for the books I ordered to take me to an entirely new level ;)

So, still practicing things that might alltogether not be correct. But at least some things will be oké (I hope)
