Graf Von Faber-Castell Moss Green

Mine is here and I really think these are very well behaved inks. I like the color and think the photos above are accurate on my monitor. The bottles are spectacular!

I calibrate my monitor before posting ink reviews. Which is also the reason why I haven't made the Garnet Red review yet - I haven't had the ColorMunki in weeks. I hope I'll get it this weekend and then I'll do that review, too.

What a beautiful green, thanks for sharing the experience with us!
I was hooked the moment I spotted the bottle... :)

2 Parker Frontiers, 1 Lamy Safari, 1 MB 146, 1 Pilot MR and new friends: M805 in blue and an M 420. Yay!

Current holy grail: Caran d'Ache Leman Bicolor in saffron or possibly white. Not yet sure.

I have a bottle of this and really dig it. It's a well behaved, good writing ink.

The up front cost is a touch high, but the per ml cost isn't so bad. Cool bottle, too! It's stouter than it looks at 75ml. Since you get plenty, I just shared some with friends.

I was going to buy this ink, but then I read about the red sheen. Why spoil a good ink by adding a red glitter to the green, I cannot understand.

I never see the red in normal writing. It's just a good, well shaded green in a normal pen. I've got it in an M nib normal pen right now. You might need a super wet writer to get sheen like that.

The aren't adding glitter or grains of metal to the ink. Sheen happens where the ink builds up (forms puddles almost), and as the ink dries the concentration increases, the puddles end up with an unsually high concentration of dye. This usually happens when one combines a wet writing pen, an ink with shading, and paper that allows ink to pool on the surface instead of quickly soaking in to the paper.

I have only bought the Cobalt Blue so far, and that is very nice.

I would love to try Moss Green, and because of the red sheen maybe I should buy a sample first.

In the UK I thought The Writng Desk had the best online price I found after I bought my bottle in a B&M store.

I haven't investigated how many stockists sell it in the US yet, but if it's $30 plus delivery then the UK price isn't too far out.

Must lay my hand on a few of those bottles

Fantastic review, Tlab3000, and thank you much for it!

I normally detest such greens, but you've piqued my interest enough to give it some serious consideration. Blasted! This may be cause enough for a third ink order today!

Well shoot, Pira! You just pushed me over the edge.

Glad to be of assistance. Wouldn't want any fence sitting where inks are concerned

Just dashing in to share a recent tree. Glad there was a lovely review written up for this ink :)

I really like your trees, Pira. :)

I have to say I find F-C's inks really appealing. The bottle is gorgeous and the price per mL pretty reasonable. I already love Cobalt Blue and this is convincing me to crack open my sample of Moss Green...

I tried this ink today in a Waterman Man Opera, M nib. I had expected a darker green, almost black notes, so had my eye on J Herbin Lierre Sauvage or Diamine Woodland as well. As it has turned out, the actual shade is nigh perfect for what I wanted so the others are off the shopping list for now.
