Two Pens, Two Inks; Which Goes In Which?

Recommended Posts

I have two new pens arriving next week - a Teal Pilot 78G and a much lusted-after TWSBI Diamond 580. I have some Diamine Oxblood that I used to use for marking school books before I switched to Kelly Green, and some Onyx Black as well.

So, where does the Oxblood go, and where does the black? My initial reaction is the Oxblood in the 78G and the black in the TWSBI. I think the deep, dark red of the Oxblood would play out nicer in a stub, and the black would make for a better everyday scribbler.

What do you all think?

Sorry, I should mention that the 78G is a broad stub, and the 580 is fine.

If the TWSBI has a clear barrel or section, keep the red ink out of it. Red ink has a reputation of staining. I don't know what is is that is in red inks that causes that.

I agree with your idea of what ink to put in what pen.

I personally would rather see red ink in a demonstrator (because I think it would really look cool), however, due to staining - mentioned previously - I agree with your plan.

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

This has now become three inks for three pens after I won a Parker 51 the other day. I bought some washable blue Quink and I was thinking of using that in the 580 as I've heard they benefit from wetter, runnier ink, and keeping the Onyx Black for my 51.

The Pilot landed (I'm sorry) today, and is currently drying after a good flush. That's definitely getting the Oxblood.
