R900 Toledo Rollerball

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Putting together some documentation on the rare Toledo rollerball...specifically the R900.

If you own one, I'd appreciate info on the following:

Cap markings:

a. is the logo disc color gold/black or gold/grey?

b. marked "GERMANY" or "W-GERMANY?"

Bande markings:

a. is there a "925" silver mark?

b. serial number (if you're willing to share it, or part of it)

Turning knob:

a. tipped with or without gold disc?

There are a few versions of just what these are...limited run, made by factory workers for themselves etc.

Share any "theories" or "stories" you may have :)

Appreciate your assistance with this.

Be well,

Pelikanyo Paul

Dear colleagues, does anybody know whether Pelikan produces nowadays Toledo Rollerballs?

https://www.martiniauctions.com/item/id/Pelikan_R910_Toledo_pen_sterling_silver_23559.html

As I understood, that particular pen is not a "serial" one; more likely it's something like a concept and was presented in 1-2 examples for pen distributr, am I right?

In general, which Pelikan current collections do have the "highest" (byy its status :) ) rollerballs?..

R800?..

R1000 maybe?..

It looks like Pelikan is currently only producing the gold 700 and 900 Toledo fountain pens.

I've seen this listing at Martini Auctions, and it's an interesting pen, probably produced in limited quantity to see if they could be sold in larger numbers. A quick websearch or two didn't turn up a gold-colored 900 rollerball in the same size, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

I forget where I saw the photo, but someone took a picture of a pen tray full of prototypes at the Pelikan factory museum, and there was a twist-action Toledo ballpoint prototype, with the metal sleeve on the cap. It looked... odd.

I think the current "highest level" rollerball is the regular 800 series.

It’s at Dominic Rothemel’s website.

Let me resurrect this old topic. :)

Has anyone managed to see the Pelican Toledo Roller (R 900) for sale in recent years? As I understand it, they are not even on the ebay auction. It would be interesting to try to find one and buy it for the collection.

I have never seen one. I didn't even know it exists.

There's a photo of one (R900 gold Toledo) further up in this thread, posted by Pelikanyo.  There were also R910 silver Toledo rollerballs made, there was one for a long time at martiniauctions.com, but it's not there anymore (and I forgot to save photos of it).

Both are rather rare in the marketplace.
