The Parker Ultra Giant Replica

I love a challenge. My challenge was not turning this pen but rather finding the correct dimensions. I made two or three stabs at the project and finally settled the issue when the one person who had a complete one was kind enough to share the details. I tuned a few and marked them as Replicas of this not so famous design. Best guess answer as to "why such a pen" is most likely, it exist because Parker sales persons showed the pen to dealers and said, "tell people that Parker makes pens from this size to this size.

Enjoy the look!

Now, Chris, I love big pens, but I somehow think that one would be just a bit heavy resting on my shoulder as I write!

I've lusted over some of the "giant" pens, but I've never seen one THAT large. What sort of nib is in there?

The three or four of these pens known to still exist have the same nib as the Parker Giant.

outstanding job chris

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Nice pen, but you would need a very deep shirt pocket.

Nope--you carry that inside your jacket like a sawed-off shotgun.

Chris, please see my other replies in other threads about this pen. I am going to look at the pen in the pictures sent to me yesterday by phone....https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151839855050303&set=pcb.10151839858510303&type=1&theater

If it is the variety you said that would have the smaller pen in the blind cap, and it is missing, I may be commissioning you to make another small replica red pen as the customer I am seeing is interested in selling it. It was her fathers, and her father claimed it was one of only 5 made and that he turned down $25,000 for it as he did not need the money and loved the pen. The father is no longer living and the daughter does not want to hold on to it, so my job is to not only document the pen, put a value on it, but hopefully find the right buyer for it.

If it is just a regular black giant in good condition, what would the value be?

The pictures linked in your post are of a normal Parker Black Giant that is missing its pocket clip. The nib is a #12 which is correct for this pen. It is not an Ultra Black Giant. Condition is very important in order to establish value of this pen. It is almost impossible to evaluate it by using less than high quality photos.

I wish I could be of more help!

That is what I figured from looking at the photos sent to me on the phone. The slip cap as opposed to a screw on cap is the major difference that tells me it is not the Ultra. The only thing that would dictate the pen being the ultra is the late deceased owner's recollection that he thought it was one of 5 made and was offered once $25,000 for it. I am going to tell her that if the value of the pen is in good shape, that I would estimate around $1,500 to $2,000. Now, if I unscrew the blind cap and find a red pen, then I will know it is the real deal. I am going tomorrow to view the pen and take pictures of it. I will try to post these when I do, because even a regular Black Giant is cool. Thanks for your input.

Another clear indicator of which pen it is: The Ultra Giant is 10 inches long. The standard screw cap black Giant is 6+ inches or shorter when capped. Parker made more than one model of the screw cap pen in black.
