Another Sonnet lookalike. Anyone have one of these and care to share your opinion?

I have a blue one. I like it. It writes smooth and looks nice. Worth the 5 or 6 dollars I paid for it. The section is textured. Your fingers won't slide while using this pen.

I just ordered one, I am guessing the criss-cross section is painted metal? It would be nice if it's plastic...I suppose ink will trap there easily when fill?

It feels like plastic to me. It is smooth to the touch but locks with your grip on the pen when you write. Your fingers won't slide around when you write like a smooth metal section. I inked mine with J. Herbin Eclat De Saphir. It was a close match to the color of the pen. Mine writes very well. I hope yours does too.

I think I inked mine by filling the converter with a syringe. I don't think ink on the section during filling from a bottle will be too bad. The grooves aren't that deep. It should clean off with a towel.

I don't post my caps but I tried it to see. It posted very secure. The inner plastic cap grabs the barrel securely. I hope you like the pen. Mine is a good one.

May have to get one of these to try out. My continuing concern is how thinly Jinhao plate their parts. The plating seems to wear so quickly when I get hold of their pens. I fear the chrome plating would age very badly.

Regards,

Richard

That's actually quite pretty. Screwcap, too!

When I saw the picture, I thought it was screw cap too but it is actually slip cap. The thread like thing is just design or maybe to provide better grip for people who like to hold their pen higher up the barrel?

It's not bad but of all the similar pen, I prefer the Jinhao X750 and the Duke D209. Because it is a very affordable pen, I think it is worth to get them all really.

I have a Duke D2-1 on the way and bought another X750 because it was $2.98

buy now price incl. shipping I have to have it!

Just received my 601 few days ago.

IMO, it is smoother than famous X750, and the finish quality is better too.

According to the better looking converter(and the price of course), I believe that 601 is a higher model than X450 and X750.

I will buy 601 as workhorse instead of X750 from now on.

Hej!

It's a nice pen - got mine for like €7 via eBay/incl. shipping (Airmail, Seller "combinedshipping")

Couldn't stand the nib though, so i switched it for a Kaweco Sports' - perhaps i'll use a silver Kaweco nib instead when im fed up with the Lilliput for a while.

The nib and feed of the Jinhao 601 need to be pulled out straight - don't turn this assembly around when removing, unless you want to break something.

I have to prime the feed using the converter when i want to start writing, but then it flows smoothly.

The clip is slightly off and not centered in the non-lined field of the cap, but unless you are not absolutely OCD'd this shouldnt be a problem.

(Excuse the bad pictures - only now decided to register here and take some pictures in the middle of the night).

The Kaweco Sport now bears a Kaigelu 363's nib - i need to fix that pens feed somewhen, because it is horribly (sic) manufactured.

Fits nice and doesn't look that awkward ... but nothing compared to a real JoWo nib. Ok-ish writing though.

According to one of the eBay listing, it is 37 grams !!!

That is a HEAVY PEN.

Hej ac12,

comparing it to a simple Lamy Safari/Vista i can't really feel a difference in weight (capped).

But it sure is lighter than the non-aluminium TWSBI 580 (AL = 32g; Plastic = 28,5g).

So i dont think that 37g's are accurate.

E: Just saw, that all offers on eBay list it as 37g. I could be wrong, but to me at least it feels like in the 23-27g range at least (i have no fine scale unfortunately).

Best regards
