Midori Passport Clone

Okay this was such a bargain, I had to share it !

If your in the market for a Midori style Passport, then I can totally recommend to take a look at this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Midori-style-Passport-Size-Traveler-NoteBook-Diary-Journal-Real-Leather-/251350680876?pt=UK_Stationery&var=&hash=item3a85ab052c

For £8.99 plus postage it's laughably cheap & so good I've purchased a couple of spares.

100% compatible with the Midori Passport, it comes with one plain pad & one undated diary. The paper quality is more than acceptable & even the wettest pens of mine don't bleed.

The seller tells me he'll be getting a couple extra designs in next month, one of them being a full size Travelers notebook clone.

I purchased what he refers to as Purplish/Red, I should point out that the stamps shown in last photo aren't included - I purchased them elsewhere:

I'm happy to confirm that these are a great little buy. Thanks to earlier tip-off from mports I bought 2. One in the purplish-red (above) and one in dark brown. Great VFM, good quality & delivered really quickly

Did yours arrive with that goofy saying on the back cover? Something like "Going With the Wind"? I can't get the image of Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler out of my brain!!

Just sending to the UK? Do not have an ebay account for the Kingdom. Anyone would send me a piece of that goodness to Germany. Would pay the price for the book + set. shipping costs gladly via e-mail. What about the shipping costs via standard mail?

Please answer in the thread or drop me a line via PN.

I think it was kind of a matter of time before the market was literally flooded with TN-alikes - either close relations or totally identical like this one.

Midori had a nice idea, but I doubt they were the first to think of elastic bands to hold notebooks together inside a cover: hard to believe noone had ever thought of connecting two notebooks by wrapping an elastic band around two notebook covers, back of one front of the other, and so on to make a whole stack of connected notebooks. And from there it's only a small step to rig up a cover for the Whole Thing.

I'm hoping for their sake that they're counting on most of their income coming from the refills, otherwise the only way they'll continue to be successful is with a Moleskine-style distribution network placing the TN in all kinds of shops that don't cater to the people with specific requirements from stationery (eg writing or art shops) but to fashion and so on - like moleskine did way back, where you would find moleskine stands in places like department store accessories sections or gift shops or the airport duty-free.

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.

I'd be more than happy to help, drop me a PM with what you want - Qty & colour etc & I'm sure we'll be able to sort something out via Paypal. I've no idea on postage but I'll check Royal Mail's website & figure it out once I know what you want.

Cheers

Thanks for sharing. I like the Midori look and concept, but think they are overpriced for what you get. I won't be getting one soon, but nice to know about them.

I've had 4 of these now. 2 have been given as gifts to people at work who were really pleased with them. Both were the dark brown colour.

I can't wait for the larger sizes to appear.

daft question before I hit the buy button - what size inserts fit into this - are they regularly available?

I am going to purchase one passport and one notebook size. Shipping to the US is a wee bit under $21 US dollars but for the price of both journals and shipping, it's only a few dollars more than a Midori on Goulet Pens.

So here's to a great thread that is feeding my addiction to writing instruments and other related things.

My notebook arrived yesterday impressive for the price.

I do think a little more width would be better when more sections are added they tend to peep out from the cover.

Thanks to mports for finding this.
