These are beautiful!

Thank you for posting!

I've sent in my order. You do not actually make payment on the site, but they send an email with payment details.

I'm hoping shipping won't be too bad to NY (cross my fingers)

Dear Miss Elderberry,

My notebooks arrived yesterday, but I couldn't let myself test them at first. They're so pretty! I came up with a solution. On the first page, I wrote you a Thank You note for introducing Bomo Arts to me. Writing that got me past my reluctance to "mess up" a new notebook.

I took photos, but I don't know how to put them here. If you PM me your email address, I'll send you a photo of your Thank You note.

I also want to thank you here. It felt special to receive a package that had travelled so far and from the country I'd most like to visit. Thanks for your review and photos!

Karen

Hi Karen,

That sounds great! I'm happy for you. I know what you mean about far travelling parcels, I've had that too!

You can upload pictures in the "upload" section. The button is located in the ink blue area at the top of the page next to "Gallery". Clicking it will open a new window where you can upload the picture from your hard disk and it will also provide with a link to the picture. It has to be smaller than 1 MB though.

If this shouldn't work out I'll also PM you my e-mail address and I can post it for you if you like.

Personal taste is a strange thing. I actually find these journals to be quite ugly. I dislike the faux "old book" look, the spine design and the overly busy cover papers

However I appreciate that many will love these and if we all liked the same thing life would be pretty boring right?

When I joined fpn, I soon learned that certain members and I shared an aesthetic sensibility and that I would have to brace myself against blooming desire for pens I hadn't noticed before (among these members are LeighR, QM2, and Lady Dandelion). It wasn't just that they took wonderful photos, although that probably influenced my greed. (*Laughs.)

Of course, I noticed a while ago that you had joined this cadre of desire peddlers.

I especially like the balloons.

Hm... I wonder how far Budapest is from where I am now. Prague is a six-hour train ride. I must start planning.

(No, not just to look at notebooks. That would be silly.)

As opposed to others, with an aesthetic insensibility? ;)

More like an aesthetic insensitivity.

It's alright to find them ugly! May the paper gods look after your lost soul. ;)

Lisa, the balloon motif is truly special. Also it reminds me of when I went hang gliding last summer.

As for going to Budapest, they also have a little shop at the christmas market in Vienna at the moment! Vienna is great and a little closer too, right? :-D

Besides I can only return the compliment of being a pen enabler! It started with my first Nakaya and sure didn't end there.

Karen allowed me to share her pictures of her notebook so here they are:

Now I kind of feel like I made them! ;) Anyway I'm glad you're enjoying them, I sure am and I'm looking forward to handling at least one of those every day in my work environment plus whatever I choose to write in at home.

Wow, very nice. Thank you.

I generally use pads or loose leaf paper instead of bound jounals; however, the Bomo address book and day planner are tempting.

I got both the diary (day planner) and register (address book). They look great, but usability with fountain pens is a mixed bag.

The address book paper seems to take fountain pen ink well, though I may end up using pencil anyway so I can erase and update addresses when necessary. However, the day planner paper hasn't fared well at all. With any of the pens I have inked at the moment - the inks (Iroshizuku Asa Gao, R&K Alt Goldgrun, Diamine Ancient Copper) feather and bleed through badly. Not only would the backside of a page be unusable, spots of ink soak through to the following page. It might work with the right ink and a fine enough nib, but then I'd need to carry a dedicated fountain pen for writing in the day planner, and instead of doing that I'd rather carry a pencil (and not have to worry about ink sitting in the day planner pen for many months).

For anyone in the Toronto area, the Papyrus store in Yorkdale Mall had several Bomo Art products in stock, including: notebooks (I saw both the birds and balloons) and envelope sets.

That's interesting! The paper in my daily diary doesn't seem to have this degree of problems with ink. So far I've only used R & K Verdigris in it with two different pens (italic broad and oblique medium nibs). There was no bleeding at all. I'd like to try some other inks in it now... Sadly I left it at work where I won't return until the 6th. Ah, well.

I got the balloon with the light tan leather trim journal. They are incredible and I will buy more. The paper is an excellent laid finish with column watermark. Thank you for the post and couldn't be more happy.

So I ordered a daily planner in a B5 size, red leather spine and moulin rouge cover.

Excellent service and quality finish. For this type of planner the paper is great considering it's thinness.

I find that it is not the nib so much as the ink that leads to show through. So far my best results have been with a Caran D'Ache Leman(Saffron)bold nib and Waterman Florida Blue ink.

Thank you for pointing these out Miss Elderberry. Great value by the way, from great friendly people.

So did any of you guys who ordered from them get your parcels yet?

I just received one today with some products me and some other people from the german pen forum ordered together. I had decided to get one of their diaries for work and an address book. They're lovely!

Here's a thick A4 notebook a forum member ordered, on top of that are said diary and address book. They're beautifully made as usual.

The address book has gilded edges and the letter tags are made of leather with gold print.

The diary has a lot of nice stuff in it like an additional weekly diary with international holidays, a register as well as some maps! The paper is very thin which gave me a bit of a scare as I definitely wanted a fountain pen friendly diary but it seems to take ink very well and hasn't shown any bleed through or feathering with a B italic with medium ink flow and Rohrer & Klingner Verdigris. I haven't tried any other pens yet but I'm confident.

So, well, next year just has to be a good one. ;)

I placed an order a couple of days ago. There was no way to pay on their website, I got a message saying that I would get an e-mail with payment information. I still haven't received an e-mail. Did anyone else have this problem?
