Diamine Cult Pens Deep Dark Red

Anyone compared this new DD Red with Noodlers Black-Red?

+1

Pretty Please... Do you have Noodler's Red/Black ?

I had a bottle in my hand (Red/Black) a few weeks ago... but I left it behind after doing a couple of swabs and looking way too brown. I want this ink sooo bad... But if it is way too brown (dried blood lookalike) then.. I'll pass.

I don't have it. Noodler's inks are kind of scarce this side of the pond, despite Ross' best efforts. :(

I do have Noodler's Red-Black and am waiting for my bottle of DDR to arrive. I also want to compare it to Levenger's Claret.

Wow - this review rivals those of S1, thank you!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Sorry, I've been sick for the last few days. Guess I don't have an excuse though because I just haven't done it yet.

Thank for a great review. I just bought this ink and haven't tried it yet. I'm not normally a red ink person, but this looks great. I can't wait to try it now.

I have just started using Deep Dark Green in a Lamy Nexx with a LH nib and it's great. It flows beautifully and the colour is rich and dark (reminds me of Sailor Jentle Epinard).

Sandy1 is a continuous source of inspiration but I am nowhere near that level. But thanks for the best compliment ever

Ok, here's an update. See attached. Sorry it took so long. I still need to get out my bottle of Levenger Claret and compare it to that.

Gee... thanks... .. .and I hope you are feeling better.

Well, I couldn't resist and I have already order a bottle.. ... I am glad I did. It looks "richer" than Red-Black.

Still waiting for it....

Thank you - this is one of the most useful reviews I've seen, with all the comparisons. Lovely colour ....

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

When is this going to be sold in the US? Anyone know?

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

Although made by Diamine it's a formulation made specifically for CultPens, so I would think it unlikely that it will be sold/distributed by anyone else.

I understand CultPens delivery to the US is pretty good though.

Thanks for this review- I was looking for such a red and I love this one now I have it. I think it's gonna be getting more use than my various Blue/Blacks!

I got a bit carried away with my Cult Pens order, and bought a bunch of pens and pencils. Excellent seller.

I love the colour of this ink. Just discovered the Dimine ink range and love how well behaved they are. Definitely on the shopping list.

A wonderful ink, and with a wide range of uses despite the colour. Always showing a pleasant contrast to the paper, be this white or yellow.
It has much in common with Diamine's 'Ochre', being more exciting when comparing to pure browns such as 'Deep Dark Brown' or Diamine's 'Macassar', fine inks both but a bit "dull".

I would have to compare with 'Oxblood' in the exact same pen, but so far they look the same.

I'm a bit late to the party - but what a great review! Thank you. That comprehensive list of colour comparisons is super-helpful.

The Deep Dark Red looks tempting, and hopefully with not to bluey a cast. Will have to give it a try!
