Fountain Pen Patch

I was looking for something on eBay and came across this:

There's other styles too - you can see them if you search fountain pen patch.

I thought it was cute, especially as it's actually quite realistic and detailed! It's about 4" long and change, so my initial idea that it would be a neat addition to a pen pouch probably wouldn't work as it would be disproportionately big for that. But on a larger item like one of those big cases with elastic loops for pens in the double-digits that lots of members seem to favor, it should be a good size! And of course on bags and stuff, or homewares.

Can you tell I'm sort of talking myself into buying one? lol. Just hard to pick :P

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.

Going by the title of this thread I expected to find a sticky patch soaked in ink that sticks to your arm and helps to wean you off pens and inks. Totally misread the title.

Funny you said this because I instantly thought of a pumpkin patch but with fountain pens instead. It's Autumn here and I'm thinking about pumpkins, corn stalks, and such.

That's a cute patch. Just not what I was expecting. Doh!

Personally I thought of a rifle patch ... made specifically for cleaning out those pesky feeds and clotted nibs ...

Haha, I think I should have just used 'applique', but I thought maybe that's a more specialized sewing term (I wouldn't know really, I can't sew a stitch lol, I just know this term because it's the standard term for these doo-hickeys in a couple other languages).

I realized now there probably IS a way to make one smaller...sort of? It wouldn't be embroidered like this, so you wouldn't have the three-dimensionality of this, but it would be a picture on fabric that you could then stitch or fabric-glue onto anything you like. It's that art/craft technique called image transfer paste (I think that's the name - basically you use some kind of goo or compound to transfer a picture from a photocopy or laser copy (not an inkjet printout) onto fabric. See this instructable for example.
