Modified Kurrent Script Attempt

Hi sidthecat, that's so nice that this thread still gets some vies :)! Yes, my impression (not being a palaeographer though …) is also that they are closely related. Both are gothic running hands, and I think in the Renaissance most European countries dropped the gothic scripts in favour of Italic Cursive and its relatives and successors. In Germany it was just longer in use (parallel to 'Latin hands', as they were called). You can see for example in the last historical document I posted that the words Datum, Julii and Comission were written in some sort of Roundhand – meaning that words from other languages, dates, I think also places and names were written in 'Latin', and the normal text in 'German':

And I am sure it's a spelling mistake, but just in case you want to look it up online or such, it's 'Kurrent' (from Latin 'currere' = to run), not 'Kultur' ;).

I haven't written it in a while, but I'd like to see if you give it a try! I also like the loop on the d.

I love this thread. For my 18th birthday I got my first Montblanc fountain pen. I treasure it deeply ever since. However, having such a nice pen made me realise how awful my handwriting was in comparison. Thus, I took the chance of staying home from school due to illness for a few days to teach myself to write in kurrent (slightly modified as well).

Kurrent has been my standard handwriting ever since.
