Hi All,

Can anyone help me identify the pen I have, my father was presented with this in the early 60's when working in the Middle East. He's looking at selling it now so before advertising for sale wants to know more about it and value.

Using a magnifying glass I can make out the following.

On barrel (I think it called) Mont Blanc 325 on Top

Nib 585

End of 1st Half Orange Hexagon

End of 2nd Half White Dot

Black Body Blue Holder revealed when unscrewed

A separate Reddish Box.

Have attached some photos but the quality isn't cheap I only could use a cheap camera phone ONLY.

If you any queries I can examine the MB using the magnifying glass again.

Thanks in advance post-107410-0-63270300-1381939793.jpgpost-107410-0-57182400-1381939794.jpgpost-107410-0-44756200-1381939795.jpgpost-107410-0-21421200-1381939798_thumb.jpg

Montblanc 32S S for steel/metallic cap cap

Look up the model 32. your pen has a metallic cap instead of the plastic cap on plain 32.

Hi, welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell.

The 32 was the entry level demi size Montblanc of the period, a "School" or "Student" pen.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Just researched the 32S model through the web.

Can now identify the following :

  • MB Model No 32S
  • Nib 585 (58.5% gold content equates to 14k ct)
  • Nib Style Extra Fine

I have 2 questions :

  1. eBay the price range seems be approximately UK £130 -142 (US$ 210 -229) boxed. Is this about right ?
  2. What is the white dot for in place of the 6 domed star that it the normal symbol for every MB pen I've viewed ?

Thanks again

Those prices seem pretty strong to me but I may well be out of step with today's market. The oval or a triangle was used on Montblanc pens sold into the Muslim states since the Israeli six-pointed star and the Montblanc snow cap looked similar.

I guess the price might be a bit high as you tend to overestimate the value when you're selling but underestimate when you're buying !

The reason why it's not a typical symbol used by MB certainly makes sense.

Do you know if it increases or decreases the price?

Thanks for responding

Based on your assumptions of jar,s comments, that would all depend if you are buying or selling !!!

Honestly, i,ve no idea - put it on ebay, 99p start, no reserve, explain the history , single owner etc, and see where it ends up

The pens with the different symbols are certainly not unusual and so likely add no value to those who know the history. People who collect memorabilia may pay a premium but would be more likely to go for the upper range pens.

A good picture of the nib or a flex nib would likely add more to the value.

Thanks for the replies

The next job is just to either obtain a decent camera to take better images or use professional post photo-editing software on the existing images - But I know its possible, just have to learn the the software. ie GIMP :D

I don´t think you can save those pictures no matter what editing software you use, it looks as if the camera has trouble focussing on the subjekt.
