Off we go. Am on track so far (just shy of 1000 words at lunch time on the first day). Let's see what the next 4 weeks bring. Good luck and have fun to everyone participating!

All this makes me wish I did fiction. I just can't bring myself to do it, either writing it or reading it. I've tried writing many times before and even have something right now that's been stewing in a file on my computer, but I find that I quickly get bogged down laboring over words. They do mean things after all.

At any rate, I'll live vicariously through all of you. Best of luck!

Thanks!

But there's nothing wrong whatsoever with doing non fiction. As history has proven time and time again, truth is often stranger than fiction (I keep forgetting where I first heard that). You could always make an interesting topic out of the more salient news items and see where that takes you.

That aside, best of luck to you with whatever it is you have on the back burner! I've actually got four or five stories on my desktop staring me in the face every time I boot my PC; weirdly enough, I'm using none of those for NaNoWriMo. Figures :P

Cheers!

I got 133 words in after breakfast and before getting dressed for work. Used my Lamy 2000, loaded with Noodler's Turquoise. I'll write more after I finish lunch--haven't decided what pen/ink to use next.

I'm goin' in...

Signed up a little earlier.

Yep, looks like fanfic is not a problem.

And, at least I 1) know how to do it (how well, I leave for others to judge), and 2) I have a fanfic idea I've been turning over for a long time that should serve well enough.

50k--I know I can turn out the words if things don't fight me: i.e., if I can plant myself at the keyboard every day and hit my old average, and no earth-shattering devlopements shake my routine.

I've something of a plan to follow--I've been thinking about this story for a long time--but, I always keep in mind when writing what George Patton said: "No battle plan ever survives contact with the enemy." As with war, so with writing, I have found.

I'll have to look at the Kindle-export feature in Scrivener. I've usually posted my public-consumption stuff on-line, but I suppose there might be a handful of folks interested in reading my fanfics via Kindle.

Good luck to you, and to all our fellow participants here!

Well, if I knew THAT....

Actually I am on the edge of burnout from my fic's last few chapters. Twenty-one? Is it?

I need a nap.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I think I'm recovering momentum on this one. It's been dormant for probably...three years. I should be writing other things, but this one's nagged me to be written all that time. Even while I wrote two other series, including a 12 "chapter" serial with an epilog, among other things. So far, I have...283 words. I've only had about forty minutest to work on it, and that only beginning late this (Tuesday) afternoon. We'll see if I can catch up. I was rolling pretty well, when the screen dimmed on my notebook...getting to the bottom of that took most of the remainder of my writing time for the day. I hope tomorrow will be more...productive.

My NaNo this year is two completely different books, at the same time, one book being the book the character in the first book is reading, some of the same issues, but very different.

Because, well, who knows.

I am a bit behind, 3,000 words or so, because when you want to do 100,000 words it is 3, 334 words per day, and I got nothing done on Monday.

Once more unto the book!

Good luck. Haven't touched my fic all week. Maybe today, tomorrow....

Thanks. I'm gonna need it.

I now have a total of 3937 words on one novel, and the site informs me that I'll finish in February at this rate. It seems every day I write, I manage to whittle a month off my completion time. I might make it yet. It's a long shot, but, as a famous Corellian once said, "Never tell me the odds."

I might even be able to pound out a few more words tonight, and break the 4,500 word barrier.

Even though I am not OFFICIALLY participating in NaNo, f-net says I have nearly 39k words under my belt.

Good luck EVERYONE!

Currently at 21 097 words, which means I should cross the halfway point very soon (in like two days or something like that). I probably would have had more if it wasn't for the fact that I took two days off writing last week.

I'm writing an online serial thing. It's urban fantasy. And I have no idea how long it's going to run for.

Alas, I am only at 9000 or so words--all the overtime I've been having to do at work are sapping my energy. Still, any progress is good progress!

The pens I have been using are: Lamy Safari and 2 Al-Stars with XF nibs, TWSBI Diamond 540 XF nib, Guider Marala F nib. I'm using a DGI comp book whose narrow rulings really force the use of finer nibs. I keep switching pens every time I start a new writing session, so my first draft is going to be very, very colorful.

As of this moment, 4962 words. I'll finish in early February, at this rate. --actually, make that 4975 words, and still finishing in early February. --make that 5,648 words, and a finish in late January. If I can hit 2,100 words a day for the remainder of the event, I might accidentally complete a draft novel. Of course, I might also split the atom, grow an extra head and win the Nobel Prize for literature, too...

Just under 13k as of last night. About 7k behind unfortunately. I have been naughty and haven't been allocating my precious fixed 30 minute blocks of writing-time for the last few days to make sure keep going. I have been letting chores (work, kids etc.) dictate things and have let my planning slip. Hmmm...

So, the story I was working on lost steam about 15k words in, and I ended up scrapping that (placed it on the backburner, rather, since I felt like there was still a lot of potential left in it) and starting on another story. Bah, resetting at a time like this feels like suicide :/

Anyway, yeah, I'm barely a thousand words in with the new story, but I'm really rather enjoying it. II doubt I'll be able to finish it in time, but I'm just happy that I got to start work on such an interesting (my opinion) story! Haha, NaNoWriMo or no, I'll just be working on this one in my spare time. Consider me an official drop out, albeit one that's working on a story that I find enjoyable in my free time :)

Cheers!

I'm now at 38 115 words. I always get my second wind writing these things in the last twenty thousand words. And everything just synced up and now I actually know how it's going to end! Hooray! (No, I didn't know it either when I started.)

  • 2 weeks later...

I tried NaNo last year, but alas was too consumed with school to have much time to finish. I go to around halfway though, which was an accomplishment for me. I wanted to participate this year as well, but it would have been too time consuming. Definitely a lot of fun though!

And I too am too non-linear to dare writing a novel with a pen.
