In Memoriam - My Custom Nakaya...

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

No, it will not bring Sufi back, but I feel very emotional and connected whenever I hold the pen in my hand.

And yes, credit must be given to Nakaya: for any manufacturer (let alone one of such high quality) to undertake one-off commissions - to a budget set by the customer - is unprecedented in this day and age, and something which must be celebrated.

Too many pens; too little writing.

mongrelnomad - I was happy to see you received this pen, which you had mentioned earlier. I also understand how you felt when you received it, as this is not just a pen anymore for you. It's good to see that you're focusing on the positive aspects the pen brings when you use it...I'm not sure I'd be that strong.

Swanjun, Edwaroth, kp288908 & others - my condolences for your respective losses. It's hard to lose friends that are (or become) so close to us.

Very difficult to lose a friend such as Sufi. My wife still misses her German shepherd after 18 years. You have memorialized Sufi well with such a thoughtful pen and nakaya have done a brilliant job to capture such meaningful moments.

A very poignant story. Sorry for your loss, but glad that you are reaching an understanding with your pen. I think it turned out very well, I had to smile when I saw the paw prints on the section. A fitting memorial to your departed buddy.

Acceptance is not an easy thing to achieve, and it's not really about forgetting, it's about allowing things to be just the way they they are, without being attached to the wish that they were different. Sounds like you are getting there, and you, the pen, your wife, and Nakaya all have a role in it. In that sense, even though it was initially a disappointment, the pen is your vehicle to healing. I bet you will end up just loving it.
