Montblanc Permanent Blue

The Irish Green performs surprisingly well, too.

Lloyd I was thinking the same thing. The gray that remained is perfectly clear and readable.

None of us knows how long he shall live or when his time will come. But soon all that will be left of our brief lives is the pride our children feel when they speak our names.

Here is the flip side of the submerged sample after it was completely dry. The water and chemicals did not affect the Permanent blue at all and again no bleed through.

Comparison when i first wrote on the paper.

I like how this is a very well-behaved ink...but like a lot of pigment-based inks, it has a very muted, dusty colour on paper when dry.

I know this might have been covered in other threads...

Does the MB Permanent Ink for certain stain the 149 ink windows?

The permanent aspects of the ink are related primarily to paper and not the plastic feed on the 149/146. So no staining that I can see. But it is a pigmented ink so a thorough cleaning is a must. When you clean, you will see the particulates in the wash, so a routine wash is clearly indicated.

That said, this ink is still my favorite Blue and the only Blue that actually sees regular use.

It is certainly not a well behaved ink and will dry up in some pens if the cap is not air-tight. But the color is a a deep Royal Blue that is work appropriate and has just enough pop to be pleasing. Does not feather or bleed in the cheapest of office copy papers and is water resistant. I wash out the pen every couple of weeks to 10 days and haven't had any problems. If the pen is left unused for many days the nib will dry out, but a quick prime gets it going fine. When routinely used, I have had no major drying issues.

Again, behavior wise, the ink is no angel, but is worth the trouble.

My bottle has just a spoonful left so will have to buy a new one soon. :)

This is a great ink, not only is it waterproof but it shades very nicely. It will not stain but if you don't flush your pen frequently it will leave a residue that will darken ink windows. I used this ink for a year on a Pelikan M205 and at the end I couldn't see the ink level.

Clean up is easy with a tissue or Qtip but you must have access to the ink window. For that reason now I only use it in pens with converters.
