New Montblanc Permanent Inks 2013

After several refills of ink I've experienced the exact same problem with my broad nib Heritage. It just developed hard starts one day and nothing has really brought it back to being the amazing, juicy writer it once was. I've only used the non permanent Montblanc inks in mine however. I plan on shipping mine to the service center soon and hope they will address this ink flow problem.

I am using permanent midnight blue in my heritage pen. It works well.

I had this same problem and even posted about the ink flow in my EF 149. I have since switched to MB Oyster Grey and the problem has diminished but is not completely gone. I was super excited about the ink at first but it has sense been shelved and I doubt it will come back out. It's back to Sailor Sei Boku for my permanent blue.

This is dissapointing. First they decaffeinated the Midnight Blue by taking out the IG making it less permanent, and now the new permanent inks, which were probably meant to replace the Midnight Blue for permanence, is causing ink flow problems for some.

My question as well. How hard is it to clean the pen?

Thus far, I have found it no harder to clean them from a pen than it is to clean an iron gall ink.

Hello, when I got these inks for the first time, I tried them out immediately with different fountain pens, including non-Montblanc pens, for cartridge-filling systems.

Each time I met difficulties with two points, considering the fact that I use F nibs with a forced flow :

- start of writing is always made more difficult, especially when the pen has been uncapped for several minutes ;

- pens are really difficult to clean up (although often cleanings are indispensable with permanent inks), even with adapted products such as pure Herbin cleaning solution, as particles remain on or under the nib and - I guess - in the feeder.

Blue ink is the one I met most problems with, but it is also the most permanent one.

I have stopped using these two inks - especially with my Heritage - and reported to my MB boutique that these inks make problems using F nibs.

I now have permanent blue in one of my 149's.

The ink behaves well. It's on the dry side bit there are no flow issues.

I really like the fact that there is no bleed through on Moleskine paper.

I was going to try some of the montblanc permanent inks once my old style montblanc midnight blue ran out, but it took a very long time for them to come in stock at the montblanc boutiques here in california, so instead I got some ESSRI and find its a great replacement. Pretty close in color to the old montblanc midnight blue and far cheaper than the permanent montblanc inks as well.

I like the way the permanent blue behaves. It doesn't bleed or feather on Moleskine paper.

I do too... Once it starts flowing. I just can't stand the inconsistent flow from every one of my pens.

Got mine last weekend at the Cologne boutique for 15€

 

Color is a warm, dark grey (almost black with wet nibs).

Are you saying the current Midnight Blue does not have Iron Gall? I am looking for a thinner line with a drier ink and read a lot about MB Midnight Blue but it's not specified on the MB website that it's different from the other inks :/

 

Do you think these new Permanent inks would have the same dryness as the Iron Gall Midnight Blue? Thank you for any info!

They are so dry that it even clogged both my heritage and 149.

I got them back from repair, but of course mb did not mention a word about the ink I have used.
