Sailor Pro Gear Ii?

Haha, what a coincidence: I actually saw your review before I checked in on this post, soniknitr! I'm reading it right now :P

Same here :P

I like the review...not the look of the pen.

Thank you. I liked the two-tone nib and rest of the pen. Although for the 'anchor' clip, I neither love it nor hate it

And, I could not agree more with you on the superior finish of these pens.

When I ordered my Yellow Pro Gear I from nibs.com a months or so ago, I asked the lady on the phone if she had heard any rumors about the end of production on the PG I and she said they hadn't heard any such thing. They were still able to order any of the I series pens and hadn't heard anything from Sailor about those pens being discontinued.

One thing is that Japanese sellers are selling older(classical) pro-gears & slims at heavy discounts. PG slims at less than 100 USD and so forth.

I am not sure whether it's to clear stock or just a marketing gimmick.

They're doing WHAT?!

... Under $100 you say? Hmm, that's... that's... something. Hmm.

Would it be possible for you to share who some of these sellers are? For educational purposes, of course...

Here in Korea too. My pen guy was willing to give me a pretty steep discount for a PG I. Of course buying the pen in Korea at a steep discount is still more than paying full price elsewhere.

I don't know if some retailers have just decided they don't want to carry both lines or what.

I had a pen to return and some credit to begin with and the discount and ended up with a Pro Gear I, which is, ironically now in Japan being repaired.

Do check with engeika and rakuten marketplace. No particular affiliation, but they have the prices mentioned on their websites.

@ Kevin - I think it's time to grab 1 now. I am thinking of a Fine nibbed Pro Gear.
Cheers

I am thinking of a Fine nibbed Pro Gear.

Warning: the fine nibs are insanely fine. Very thin and spidery. Nearly the same size as the EF. Check the charts on nibs.com that jives with what I experienced. .3 (or a little less) about the thickness of a Hi-Tec C. Mine is not only thin but a dry writer so I can't even use it on Rhodia paper or the lines just come out dry and grey when filled with a free flowing black ink. If I had done a little digging before I would have gotten the MF or M. I kind of regret it. I write small but this is like a rapidograph pen. YMMV

Thanks for sharing this particular information. I will check the MF version.

I also noted that my current sailor Medium writes almost as wide as my pilot vintage fine.

Speaking of radiographs, I had used a isograph pen (gifted) for taking notes :P in school. Only after several years, I realized they were meant for drawing.

Some good information here (wish I had seen this chart earlier in my pen acquisition upswing):

Thank you :)

This link is already bookmarked in my browser..I do refer to it but for Pelikan tipping sizes I guess it refers to vintage gold/modern steel-nibs..
