Hi FPN,

I have sad news to share. Terry Johnson, the founder of Private Reserve Ink, passed away yesterday morning after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Please say a prayer for his family in this difficult time.

As for the inks, it was his wish that Private Reserve continue on after him, and so it will. I am not sure if there will be any kind of delays in production as his family and employees work to figure things out, but I just thought you'd all want to know what's going on.

He was a good guy. He will be missed.

His family will be in my thoughts. :(

I've not yet had the pleasure of trying Private Reserve ink; I may have to throw in a few samples next splurge.

My most recent purchases, at our last Posse meeting, were several PR inks....I will use them and honor his memory. Condolences to family and friends.

Mortality sucks. I have several PR inks and enjoy them quite a lot, especially Spearmint and Midnight Blues. My thoughts go out to Terry's family.

My condolences to those left behind as well. It's never easy. Little did I know, but I was using PR ebony black all day today; one of my favorite inks.

I am so sorry to hear of this. Private Reserve inks figure strongly in my stable, and Ebony Blue is a favorite. I will keep his family in my prayers.

Private Reserve is not among my stable of inks currently. But it is always sad to hear of a pillar of the pen community leaving us. Condolences to the family.

My most sincere sympathy to his family and friends.

A couple of PR inks are among my "must have" five. He must have been a brilliant guy.

first fountain pen: student Sheaffer, 1956

next fountain pen: Montblanc 146 circa 1990

favourite ink: Noodler's Zhivago

favourite pen: Waterman No. 12

most beautiful pen: Conway Stewart 84 red with gold veins, oh goodness gracious

My deepest sympathy for the family. (Thanks, Rachel, for mentioning this). I always have a bottle of Lake Placid Blue, American Blue, DC Electric Blue, and Supershow Blue, plus the ultra wet Tanzanite.

(For a super-charged version of Richard B's famous "blurple", try 2/3 American Blue and 1/3 Tanzanite: Tanz-Am blue)

So maybe we should write a letter of condolences to the family in a favored PR ink.

I'm sorry to hear that. Although I did not know him personally, I have really enjoyed all of the PR inks I own.

Condolences to his family and friends. My next ink order will include one of his inks.

Does anyone know which color was his favorite?
