Help! Need Work Done On Mb 224

I have just bought a MontBlanc 224. I inked it up today and it started to leak ink. I can see a small crack on the barrel . who is the best to send this too to get repaired. I want it to look good. I don't want it to look like some JB weld slapped on there. I'm in Texas. I'm new to the pen world and don't know who or where to send it. Please help.

Thanks

Hi Dperez,

If the barrel is cracked, you would need an experienced restorer to create a new barrel from celluloid stock.

Glue is a temporary solution that will harm the pen in the long run.

We have the most awesome restorers here.

Francis Goosens (fountainbel on this forum) and Max Schrage (maxpens) are two talented craftsmen based in Europe that I highly recommend.

Francis has posted some repair pictures on this forum, you can have a look.

Another thought just struck me.

Did you buy the 224 off the bay? If the item received was not as described, you should write back to the seller and ask if the crack was around from before.

Typically, unless you are attached to the pen, returning it and getting a professionally restored one (Maxpens and Tom Westerich on penboard.de sell restored vintage Montblancs) may be a better solution and give you greater satisfaction.

a 224 is a modern plastic pen. It is unlikely that a crack on these pens can be repaired, however try your luck with the restorers mentioned, perhaps some of them have donor parts that can be used.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.
