Sorry, If i am not talking on the right topic, just looking for some advise. Hi, my name is Phil, and I would like to share some of my artwork with you. I turn and carve pens..Please check my pens and kindly respond with your thoughts and opinions. Any feedback would be great and I really appreciate your time and support: especially any suggestions on pricing my pens. I spent over 55 to 65 hours on each pen. Thank you for looking and your support. .

Sincerely,

Life is short, Art is long

Gtcarving, thanks. I enjoyed looking at those; I respect the time you put into them, and the skill which they represent.

That said, since you ask for opinions, I would rate any pen or pencil primarily on its suitability as a writing instrument, and only secondarily on its appearance. Some of those look as if they would be very uncomfortable to hold. In particular, that picture of the uncapped fountain pen with the enormous step between the carved barrel and the metal section. Just something to think about.

My mom and my dad don't use fountain pens, they prefer rollers, so I gift them a Visconti Rembrandt (Back to Black for my dad, Red for my mom) for Christmas

Do you think that for next time it's better to gift them another roller in other style (for example Montegrappa Mule for my dad and Montegrappa Felicità for my mom) or a mechanical pencil? And why?

Thanks

Beautiful work, Phil! Can you please explain the scenes and people on each pen?

Thank you! I like ancient coins and history behind each person. On of the pen is about Persepolis, Cyrus the Great and Darius the Great and capital of Achaemenid Empire. The other pen is about Parthian and Seleucid empire. King Mithridates I and Mithridates II, Ardeshir I, Shapur I, Bahram I and so on. Also the whit pen which made of boxwood is Sufi master!? Ferdowsi , Hafez, Rumi, Hallaj, Khayyam, Nietzsche, and Maurice Maeterlinck and written in old Persian Cuneiform. Thank you so much for asking. If you like reading, look for Book of King by Ferdowsim, and Rumi poem is light .

Sincerely, Phil

I would have to politely disagree --

1. PCH912 - PO Nib

2. Any other FP.

3. Uniball UM-151 Rollerball

4. ???

5. Mechanical Pencil

That being said, I'm currently using the Uniball KuruToga mechanical pencil with 0.5mm lead and it's by far the best MP I've ever used.

  • 3 weeks later...

A little holiday gift to myself... some rare Pentel Kerry colors:

Pentel-Kerry-3some.jpg

Would you consider the Pentel Kerry to be thinner than a Safari or Vista mechanical pencil?

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

Yes, they are a little thinner. Also the fact that the Safari/Vista does not taper until the very end makes them feel a little thicker. I'm going by photos. I don't have a Safari/Vista pencil, but given the lack of metal in the body, I'd say the Kerry will have a little more heft.

It seems that the feel of the pencil is similar to the Safari/Vista fountain pen, which I don't post. Is the Pentel Kerry as long as an unposted Safari/Vista fountain pen?

The Safari/Vista pencil is a little heftier than the fountain pen because, there is a metal tube, I think, to channel the leads in their proper place.

the kerry has more to do with a pilot e95S than a safari. it's a pocket pencil. very cleverly designed.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)
