(Pelikan 100N - EF ..... Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa)

To cut the long story short, i am required to sign some documents on a regular basis. I was given the option of using a ball point pen or a waterproof ink which doesn't fade. Else the documents will be rendered invalid.

Though i keep wondering how they would check whether the ink is waterproof or not. I am hoping, not the usual way ;)

@tonybelding

Thanks for suggesting another potential ink. Could you please post pics of the water test? Couldn't find it.

I don't have a photo of that, but there would really be nothing to see. Violet Vote is 100% waterproof. It has no effect at all.

Thank you. I will try this ink.

I keep telling myself I'll do a review of Violet Vote, but I don't like it enough to fill pens with it. In short: it's too light for me. I think I'd rather use it as a highlighter ink than a writing ink. I would describe the color as a light lavender purple, rather pale, and definitely more on the side of blue than I tend to prefer. It is almost pastel. I'm not saying it's a bad ink, but it's not really to my personal taste. (The bit about being too blue for my taste is why I've stayed away from some other popular purples, such as KTC and Diamine Bilberry.)

Another worthwhile ink to look at is Noodler's North African Violet, one of the V-Mail inks. It's not truly waterproof, but it is highly water resistant and is an attractive bright color while being dark enough to contrast well with the page. It is also better behaved than most of the Noodler's bulletproof inks I've used.

I like La Reigne Mauve a lot (it's currently doing duty in my primary pen), but it has some pretty serious bad behavior red flags. If you want to use it, I strongly suggest diluting it with distilled water. 4:1 or even 3:1 (ink to water) seems to be a good ratio.

And Scabiosa is good and is usually my primary ink. It may be too grey for some people, but it is fairly dark and very well-behaved. Water will wash the purple away, but leave a clearly legible grey line (the iron-gall component).
