In Japan, we call Mr. Mori "Master Takokichi" for some reason. lol

Here's the link of his BLOG. http://pelikan.livedoor.biz/

Kota

There are two "Nakaya"s in Japan. You know one is "Nakaya Fountain Pen" connected with Platinum at Higashi-Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo. Another is "Nakaya Fountain Pen Shop" at Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture. The latter Nakaya has no relation to the former shop.

The rest of my video I'm going to upload is about "Nakaya Fountain Pen Shop" because I live in Matsue City and I'm a member of the voluntary supporter of the shop.

Anyway, both of two shops are amazingly superb! :)

Hi virtu,

Are you a voluntary supporter of Nakaya Fountain Pen Shop?

If so, it sounds wonderful. :cloud9:

The craftsman Mr. Kubo must be happy to have an awesome supporter like you.

Yes, I'm a chief voluntary supporter of Nakaya Fountain Pen Shop. What supporters do is to decorate shop, guide a customer (or a group of FP lovers) to the shop, and so on...

I liked a lot the movie with Mr Kubo. It remembered me that in my childhood there were a lot of old craftsmen (jewelers, watchmakers, etc.) in my city, the majority of them being Jewish or Armenians. They almost disappeared nowadays, concomitantly with the growing of the globalization. Mr Kubo seems to come from those old good times and remembered me one of the dearest Japanese movie that I ever saw: "Tokyo Story" by Ozu (the GREAT Ozu!). Looking at Mr Tanaka was as if my Nakaya was made in front of my eyes (even, probably, Mr. Tanaka never worked at Platinum). Thanks again Kota san for these testimonies about a so noble Japanese tradition still alive.

Hi Alex,

Sorry for my late reply.

I've been busy with my replying to the private messages.

At least, I receive 5 or more private messages about Japanese fountain pen a day.

Anyway, thank you very much for the comment. :)

The situation is the same even in Japan...

Hi there,

The other day, I dropped in at my favorite fountain pen shop called Nakaya ( located in Matsue city, Shimane prefecture, Japan ) to take videos for the members of the FPN. Especially, I would like the members on "Pens from the Land of the Rising Sun" to watch this new video, because I believe some FP lovers here will visit Japan sometime in the future.

I hope you'll enjoy watching the video that I made. :)

VirtuThe3rd the videos are superb, and shows the care that the Japanese have for their customers.! He makes 50 or 60 pens a day but all of them tailored to the customer writing angle.

Thank you for this superb video collection.!

Hope you don't "retire from FPN". You bring us true understanding and insight into a wonderful culture underpinning our writing instrument knowledge. Maybe just a touch of "downtime" will restore your "get up and go" mode. That Mozart Sonata is itself restoring! Thanks. Looking forward to the Kanji-writing video and a chance to continue following your threads.
