Hi there! I've just finished uploading the new video about Japanese craftsmanship on my YouTube channel. I do hope you'll enjoy accessing to various aspects of Japanese culture. :)

*Excerpt from Oak Village. (philosophy)

Turning a 100-year-old tree into products that last 100 years.

We only use trees from planted forests and second-growth forests in Japan. Second-growth forests account for approximately 55% of Japan’s forests, and some trees are over 100 years old. We work hard to create high-quality products, which will last at least as many years as the age of the trees used in those products.

From Bowls to buildings

Using solid wood (as opposed to plywood or veneer), we try to utilize a given tree as much as possible by creating a wide range of products. We produce small products like accessories, stationary, tableware, small interior articles and smaller furniture from thinner parts of trees while we make larger furniture and buildings from the trunks of trees.

One acorn for every child

Through our affiliated NPO, Acorn Club (Donguri no Kai), we plant and nurture broad-leaved trees to increase the diversity in our forests. Our aim is to revive the health of our ecosystem and to provide an opportunity for people of all ages and organizations, including corporations, to participate in forestry activities while learning about the environment.

I usually use Sailor Blue Black for my ProGear.

Incidentally, I use Pelikan Royal Blue for my Profit 21 Large (full size).

Thanks again, Virtu. Can I ask you one more question? Which ink do you feel smoother with the same nib. As I have Sailor 1911 Large M nib, I'd like to choose smoother one. And, can you tell me which is much smoother Sailor Blue Black ink or Pilot ink No. 50-TY? Thanks in advance.

Of course, Sailor Blue Black is much smoother because of the high viscosity. As far as I know, low-viscosity inks will make you feel a bit scratchy even with the same nib. Pelikan Royal Blue or Pilot Iroshizuku are all low-viscosity inks. So, if the inks flow well, I think you don't feel REALLY smooth. That's why, I use Sailor Blue Black (high-viscosity ink) for my M nib...and I use Pelikan Royal Blue (low-viscosity ink) for my B nib.

Hi there,

The other day, I dropped in at my favorite fountain pen shop called Papylos 21 ( located in Matsue city, Shimane prefecture, Japan ) to take videos for the members of the FPN. Especially, I would like the members on "Pens from the Land of the Rising Sun" to watch this new video, because I believe some persons here will visit Japan in the future. :)

There are many kinds of vintage or rare fountain pens at the shop! I've already introduced Nakaya Fountain Pens in Matsue city where I actually live, however, I'll try to show you the quite rare fountain pen shop Papylos 21 in Japan this time. I hope you'll enjoy watching the video that I made.

Awesome video! Thank you! If I may ask, who's the pianist playing the mozart sonata as background music in your video?

Thank you so much for the comment. Really glad to hear that. :)

The piano music is played by Glenn Gould. I like his works very much!

Best wishes from Japan,
