New Montblanc Inks

Recommended Posts

I got some Midnight Blue cartridges today at the local boutique and the box omits mention of waterproof-osity - Ident. Nr. 105195. Must be the new version. They did not have the new permanents and when I inquired they responded "We're always the last to know."

The Midnight Blue and Blue-black cartridges were never permanent. They used a different formulation for those. Maybe they switched the Midnight blue to the formula in the cartridges.

The two new permanent inks and the reformulated MBMB were in stock at the Birmingham Boutique, New permanent inks are priced at £19 each / 60ml. I'll try to do some initial reactions tomorrow. The difference in packaging between the new and the old formula MBMB is very clear, photos below.

Old Ident. 105194

The third block of text indicating that the ink is permanent has been removed from the new MBMB box (top).

Hmm...maybe it's time for me to invest in a small Meisterstück to dedicate to one of these inks. I'll think about it. I have never owned a Meisterstück before. Or maybe I should get a Diva line pen of some sort. Or maybe Etoilé, but I haven't really liked the Etoilé pens much.

What's the price of the regular ink? Earlier post suggested that the new permanents are much more expensive.

The "old" (since about 2 years ago) MB inks including the new non-iron-gall Midnight Blue come in at 13.00 Euros. The new "permanent" inks now ask for 22.00 Euros

Wheeler's are doing the regular still at £11 and new document inks at £19. Same as a few places here.

Took a few months off anf this is what you happens. I still have half a bottle of MB-MB and maybe grab one more before they are gone. The lavender purple seems gone/hard to find now and also have 3/4 bottle left on that.

I like the permanent blue addition though, dont have any permanent blue ink yet.

Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing

  • 3 weeks later...

Just picked up four bottles at the local boutique. They didn't know anything about MB changing. Looked at me like I was crazy, maybe I am who knows? They still have two left. I guess it is hit or miss what can still be found. In the US anyway.
