Lamy 2000 - Possible To Buy Spare Nibs?

Recommended Posts

I have an EF nib on my Lamy 2000. Is there any vendor who sells Lamy 2K nibs ... I think I need a larger size nib (perhaps a F or M).

Thanks!

No.

The only way to get a nib for a Lamy 2000 is to either:

1. send your pen to Lamy in Germany (or via an authorised retailer) for repair or nib exchange. You will get a pen with a different nib back but you will still only have one nib.

2. advertise your pen for exchange here.

3. find a junker with a good nib.

4. buy a complete new (or used) pen.

Hi,

Still, one of the cheapest ways is just to send the pen to Lamy to get the nib swapped. I did that a few times with different Lamy 2000 pens, and it's been a very nice experience.

I emailed Lamy last week asking about exchanging nibs. Below is the reply (for those in the US at least):

The cost to swap a nib is $19.50. Your nib must be in good condition to do this. Instructions are below for sending the pen to us.

You will have to send your pen to our repair center in Connecticut for evaluation (United States Customer Only), please be sure to follow these instructions.

  • We request that you return your writing instrument in a protective box or package that will ensure its safe delivery. To prevent leakage's please remove the refill or cartridge of your pen before shipping to us. Also, if you are using the US Postal Service we would suggest you write "Hand Cancel Only" on the outside of the package to minimize damage from postal machines. Please note that we cannot be held liable for products lost or damaged in shipping on their way to us, therefore we advise sending via UPS or Federal Express. If you would like to use the Postal Service, you should send your package via Registered or Insured Mail.
  • Enclose a brief note in your package with the following information: Today's Date, Your Name, Daytime Phone, Email Address (if applicable), Your Return Address, Style or Model of Pen (if known), Nature of Problem, and whether your pen has any sentimental value or customization.
  • You will need to include a check or money order for $9.50 per pen made payable to Lamy Pen USA (please do not send cash). This is only to cover postage and handling back to you. You will be notified if additional charges apply.
  • Send your writing instrument to:

Lamy Pen USA

I should also add that I recently installed a gold nib from a Lamy 99 in my Lamy 2000 and it works flawlessly. It does open up the possibility of some older interesting nibs - BB, obliques etc. There are a few older Lamy pens kicking around.
