EF Mania's blog, "Hosoji man'nen hitsu ni kodarwaru" (Obsessed with EF/F Nib Fountain Pens) has an entry on the details about the Pilot's 95th Anniversary Fountain Pens (two models) and Capless Maple, linked with "Masahiro's Fountain Pen Factory."

 

According to the blog, this year's theme is "dragon." The more expensive model is called "Rising dragon" ( about 9000USD, 95 pieces.) The other "Dragon" (about 1000USD. 400 pieces.) They will be on sale in Japan from October 1 (The Foundation Day of the Pilot Co.)

 

How do you like these? I just fell in love with the Dragon. I will place an order soon.

I note that the clip of the pen of the left does ot have the characteristic ball, that is a pity. Is this a new clip for Yukari style pens? The prices are of course high, but in fact lower than I had expected. Maybe I should start saving for the 100th anniversary edition.... Ruud

Ruud.. The left has the old Pilot sword clip, and it is urushi over brass, as used in their 90th anniversary pen. The other finishes using the same base: kawarinuri ishime, hannya shingyo, etc. And I think they are gorgeous, albeit heavy. Pity, I don't like dragons, although I'm a 'liong'. Tony

Wow - those are beautiful pens! Oddly enough, I find I like the 'cheaper' 1000-piece Dragon pen a lot more than the more expensive 95-piece LE. Maybe I'll join Ruud in saving my $ to join Pilot's 100-year club.

I like the "cheaper" one, too! The nostrils on the 95-piece version dragon are sooo big, it looks a little comical.

 

So, does anyone know how heavy these pens can be, considering their brass components? (Is it a Pilot thing to make their anniversary pens heavy, or am I missing some info here?)

The weight of the Pilot Nioh (88th anniversary) is 38gr; that one is also based on brass. Ruud

Thanks---and ack, that's too heavy for me. Even my Visconti Rembrandt gives me problems (at 32g). x__x
