What Parker Are You Using This Day?

The same Parker 51 Vac, inked with De Atramentis Thomas Alva Edison. So far, so good.

After retipping, the pen became my EDC - I just can't have enough of it.

Plain Vector (the one that looks black but is actually very dark blue), fine nib, that I'm testing Noodler's Red Black in.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

My Dad's Parker 51, which Ron Zorn very carefully repaired, and now looks as if it had just come out of Fahrney's Pens in D.C., where my Mom purchased it in 1948. It's currently filled with Noodler's Bad Belted Kingfisher (blue-black).

I was toying with the idea of using Noodlers BBK ink in my Parker 51 Aerometric. How long have you used this ink in your P51 ? And have you had any issues like slow start ?

I've been waiting nearly two months for a pen that apparently came on a slow boat from Indonesia, but it arrived today so I'll be cleaning and inking it up tonight. It was listed online as "Parker 45, Matte Blue, Gold Trim" which sounded like a TX, but the less-then-stellar photos didn't clearly show the end of the barrel. However, it looked as if there was a glint of gold in the fringes of the image, so I pulled the trigger for $29 including shipping. What finally arrived is a 45 TX in very good shape, with no scratches and only minor model-typical section shrinkage. This is one of the heftier 45's, and at that price I can afford to use it as a daily writer!

The 45's are smart looking pens. The TX is particularly nice.

I have a P-51 aerometric with BBK in it, I've used it about a year with no problems. One thing I do, that my Dad did, is re-fill it (and my Dad's) weekly (although it was a daily practise for Dad), even if I haven't used them much.

LWJ2, thank you. I may take the plunge and load up my P51 aero-metric with the BBK. I have always used Quink washable blue in it as I was reluctant to use a permanent ink in case it clogged up the works.

You're more than welcome. For what it's worth, my Dad used Quink Permanent Black for decades.

Stylish!

Thanks. My "EDC kit" changes quite a bit depending on seasons but these things seems to be 'core' items for me now;

- MecArmy mini flashlight,

- PopovLeather keychain

- PopovLeather Notebook case

- Parker 25 pen

- Cierrecart all brass spinner/fidgettoy,

- PopovLeather wallet

Congrats. I had a Parker 21 Super on what may have been the same slow boat from Indonesia. The wait was exasperating. Returning to the subject: I own a 45 TX myself, it is an unusually handsome pen in the 45 series, and it writes well. I didn't get it for $14.95, either, which gives me one more reason to congratulate you.
