Using my recently revitalized forest green Parker 51. With a new nishimura pli-glass sac and a polish it looks new and writes pretty well too.

Liking the P51's more and more every day.

Yeah, 51s are addictive, aren't they -- especially the Aerometrics.

For me, so far it's been the red 45 F nib and (diluted) Anderson Pens Green Bay, and the Silver Pearl Vac Major (F?) nib with (diluted) Diamine Grey.

The inks are diluted because I didn't have time to flush them last week (right now the Cedar Blue 51 Vac is soaking). I suspect that the Plummer (currently sporting Noodler's Purple Heart) will get some playtime today, and the black 61 needs a refill (so far it's been doing very nicely with Herbin Eclat de Saphir running through the capillary system), but I'm not sure how much ink is left in it. If I refill it today or tomorrow, I should be good to go through the weekend, especially since that's not the only pen that's going to MA. Oh, and the Red Shadow Wave Vac Junior probably needs a refill as well (that currently has Waterman Mysterious Blue in it).

I've been trying to get the number of pens in rotation down (it's starting to get a bit unwieldy again); but I'm thinking about trying the *other* 61. Haven't decided what to try in it yet....

I gave up trying to reduce the pens in rotation, because I use them to study and I use different colors to enhance keywords, titles, numbers etc and also because I keep buying inks and I HAVE to try every ink I buy... lol.

And the 51's are my current way to bankruptcy...

A Parker 45 I picked up on eBay a couple of years ago. I tried three or four times to get it working, but I always failed. It would write, stop, blotch, write, stop ...

I am still a newbie with pens, but tonight I disassembled it, cleaned it, and examined the nib with my eBay loupe. Out of line and my efforts to align them only made it worse. I decided to massage the tines slowly with the head of the feed. One in and down and the other up and out. Slow, repetitive, until finally they looked near perfect to my bad eyes. I ran it under hot then cold water. I figure if they wanted to move then heat might do it. They stayed aligned, I reassembled and inked the pen, and I've written a couple of pages over two hours. The pen writes like butter. Smoother. I am so happy tonight. :)

Today is dedicated to my Vac. senior maxima from 38'.

The nib shows a small crack: I thought it was a real con, but I soon realized it adds some flex.

Besides, it's vintage and it will stay as such.

To be honest, this is the best daily FP I've even written with. Smooth as butter. Elegant. Perfect proportions and weight. American. Wet.

It comes from a well-known parisian pen boutique.

Note the rare and magnificent star clip.

Cheers!

Yesterday I finished cleaning and polishing this beautiful midnight blue Parker 51. For this pen I choose J. Herbin's Bleu Nuit. Nice match.

So far today it's been the Vac Junior (Red Shadow Wave, F nib) with Waterman's Mysterious Blue [the Brown Shadow Wave Debutante appears to be out of ink ] and the Turquoise 61 (F or M -- not sure) with De Atramentis Apple Blossom.

My note-taking pen is a 1949 P51, black demi, extra-fine, stainless cap, with Noodler's Black in it. It always writes and the EF nib produces a quick-drying line for notes and such that I make and then close the book.

My new P45 in olive green, two-tone cap, 14k firm extra-fine nib. Now THIS is what I've been looking for for just pure, straight writing and note-taking. Slip cap, very fine lines to use on a variety of papers, no fuss.

(Not that I don't like my wider, flex-nibbed, screw cap Parkers, but sometimes you need something that you can just whip out.)
