Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

  • 2 weeks later...

The pen is almost clear and I didn't have to take it apart. I ordered ink (as suggested) from an ebayer, but he cancelled the order. Nevertheless, here is my pen as of Sunday morning.

Hi,

Thanks for the show & tell!

Very interesting to see the progression of the pen's condition as the inks were changed.

I was a bit concerned that the original bit of residue might attract other bits from subsequent inks, creating a persistent mass - what's been loosely called 'plating'. But such was not the case in this instance. :)

Did you let the pen dry-out along the way? or Was it charged shortly after flushing?

Perhaps I should add OSMR to my roster of 'clean-up' inks.

Bye,

S1

In some respects, that kind if reminds me of trying to get Carbon Black out of my 580.

Each time, I pretty much filled the next color before the other ink was dry. I probably should go back and try Skrip red since I remember it as a cleaning ink.

I am another fan of old Parker Quink w/Solv-X. I use it in any pen that seems to be a bit sluggish, and generally find that after a few days flow is much improved.

I think my new ink between will be Noodler's Eel Rattler Red.

Here was the pen before proper flushing:

Here was the same pen after flushing and several sonic baths.

Here is the pen after using the Rattler Red - you can still see some of the red ink, because I haven't flushed it yet, nor have I tried another sonic bath.
