I use this one most often now...

What a great topic! I'm growing tired of "quick brown fox" and writing the alphabet in cursive. Seeing all these creative test phrases is tempting me to find one of my own. I had fun seeing how creative you all are.

I tend to alternate between the opening lines of Poe's Raven and the first stanza of Carroll's Jabberwocky. Or, I use the opening lines from a poem by Leonard Nimoy. (Yes, that Leonard Nimoy.) "You knock upon my mind, and you beg to borrow a cup of wisdom. You've come to seek the truth, to ask me where it's at ... "

I've now started to use the poem "Eldorado" by Poe if I want to fill an entire page.

I have started using a new test phrase and I really like it. I hope you folks like it too.

 

"Listen! We have heard tales sung of the Spear-Danes,

the glory of their War-Kings in days gone by,

My test phrase;

UK-based pen fan. I love beautiful ink bottles, sealing wax, scented inks, and sending mail art. Also, thanks to a wonderful custom-ground nib by forum member Bardiir, I'm currently attempting calligraphy after years of not being able to do so due to having an odd pen-grip :D

Without purposely deciding on it, when I want to write to test a pen I go with the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet.

 

But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks?

It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.

...

 

 

I can fill most of a page from that monologue and I think it is fun to see how far I can get from memory.
