Hey!

 

Most J. Herbin inks have high shading (except Perle Noire). This really depends whether you use a wet broad or a drier fine nib.

 

I personally love the look of J. Herbin Lie de Thé. It is a gorgeous aged look with plenty of shading.

I agree that J. Herbin inks are fantastic shaders, but it all depends on the nib and paper used. I love J. Herbin inks, in general, for their subtle, classy color, and shading properties. They're on the opposite end of the beauty spectrum from the likes of Noodler's, more, in-your-face kinds of inks. J. Herbin inks, to me, are utterly beautiful.

For shading, I would recommend most Pelikan Edelstein inks, many Iroshizuku inks, and most Sailor Jentle inks.

 

However, my favorites are all Noodler's. Among them:

 

Burgundy

Apache Sunset

Golden Brown

Red-Black

Black Swan in English Rose

Gruene Cactus

Proud resident of the least visited state in the nation!
