Thanks. That looks really nice. Your print is really crisp as well. That must have taken lots of practice. :)

I think I'll be getting some MB Irish Green when I bottle of Diamine Sherwood runs out. (From using it a couple of days, it looks like I'm going to be sticking to Organic Studios Walt Whitman is as my darker green for a while. I love Sherwood but in my pens it tends to be very much a green-black.)

(My print is horrible, so I write everything in cursive that is legible 87 percent of the time.)

These looked nice but had a $20 shipping and handling fee to Canada for a $29 book making them $49.....yikes! I just bought a Rhodia for $2.50 at Chapters though 96 pages for just shy of 200 pages I paid $5.65 with tax. The 100 page 8 x 11 pad of paper was another $4.50 at Chapters ....albeit on sale.

That is where a remailing service comes in handy... Otherwise, shipping to Curaçao would cost over $26! Also, take advantage of the bundling; if you buy two, it is less expensive, three is even better... and if you have a group of people interested in your city, you could share the shipping cost and bring it way down.

Good advice to buy a few to average out the mailing costs across three journals. I still fail to understand how USPS with a cost of $4 is upsold at a price of $20. Some wonderful profit margins on the handling part of the shipping and handling fees.

I think I can source a cream journal locally for $35-40 Canadian so will wait for some news of free or less pricey shipping from the USA or wait until I see something closer to home.

I just wanted the cream paper to try as I have a 8 x 10 ish custom made 400 page journal I am using now as an insert to a gaelic hand tooled leather cover I love.

Now that Gaelic leather bound 8 x 10 TR paper journal sounds fantastic! Any chance of a pic, Mags--or further details on the leather cover...?

Would it be possible to have someone from the U.S. who is going to Canada, hand deliver or mail you a book that they brought with them? If so, perhaps we could/should offer an introduction service so that we, here in the U.S. would be encourage, in the name of international comraderie of course, to build closer bonds with our Canadian neighbors.

Obviously I am not talking about carrying boxes of these journals with us, but 1-3 seems to be a real possibility.

A mailer service would be a good possibility for sure as I expect that there is some modest demand. Maybe a survey by someone would find there is a good little business to create and grow that redirects items.

As for my journal cover I rather like it. But I can not see how to post it.

I've got one of these (the cream colored one) coming in the mail. I was very impressed with how quickly I got a tracking number from Jay. Hopefully, when mine arrives, I'll be able to resist the urge to try it immediately. I'm still only a third of the way through my last Clairefontaine notebook!

Once you get used to this paper, it's difficult to enjoy other paper. You become much more demanding, I find. So there is a risk...

Both would be better :D

Seek that which is true, beautiful, and good.

why deprive yourself? Get both! Or, get one first, the other later...

And if you're really in a quandary, get both, send them to me and I will, ah, evaluate them for you. Thoroughly. ;)

More seriously, I have the cream and love it. I've only ever used bright white paper, not-so-bright white paper, and yellow pads, so the cream is turning out to be a lot of fun. It's a refreshing difference, a bit easier on the eyes in some light, and makes the ink look a little different (browns and reds look ... more antique-y? It's a bit hard to describe, especially when I'm in dire need of food, but it's a lot of fun). I also imagine the cream might hide any accidental spills better. ;) I'd also recommend the cream just on the basis of it being the one I've actually tried--I'm not comfortable recommending something I haven't used, though I know the white version has to be just as awesome.

Any chance of lined books?

I think Mr. Potter said there would be lined books somewhere up in the thread. Way up at this point, probably. I wouldn't let the lack of lines discourage you. I've always had a problem holding my lines straight on blank paper and have shied away from it, but I really, really wanted to start journaling as close to Jan. 1 as I could, so I went ahead and got the blank cream New Year's Edition.

With a bit of care, I'm actually doing pretty well. When I'm in a rush or I don't have the book sat properly on my desk, some of my lines can go screwball, but generally so long as I'm careful it works very well. As a bonus this is forcing me to think seriously about how I form my letters and slowly tweak my handwriting. I'm left-handed and have tunnel vision so severe I can't see the whole page at once, so I'm actually having more trouble with my left margin (where my hand is) gradually moving right as I go down the page. I'm still working on a way to deal with this.

You might also want to pick up a writing mat from this Japanese paper company mentioned earlier in the thread: http://www.nanamipaper.com/products/writing-mats.html They're designed to go under really thin paper to lessen show-through (I think? The show-through on Tomoe River really isn't enough to bother me.), and some of the mats come with ruling etched on them to use under blank paper.

(I think SBRE Brown also uses something like this to keep his hand oils from contacting the page...)
