It used to be common to place lined paper or card stock (thick paper) under blank pages to get perfectly straight lines on blank paper. I assume this was mostly done with onion skin paper, which like TR is thin and translucent.

Couple things. I ordered two of these a couple weeks ago, and as everyone has said the product quality, service, price, and communication were all excellent!

I have to know, Jay, what was the ink color you used in the short note? It looks like a dark eggplant that smears with some red when intentionally wetted. I may already have the ink, but need to use it after seeing your note!

Also, I think it would be great for people to give credit to the origin of this paper, which came from the esteemed Mr. Hiroshi Yoshino's http://design-y.near-mint.com notebook website. Subsequently, he told us where we could find the paper in bulk on Rakuten.com. He does have access to lined Tomoe River paper which is used in some of his notebooks...so it's out there.

I just got mine. I'm not sure if the other two thirds of my Clairefontaine notebook will get touched after writing in this one.

Sorry about my terrible handwriting. I'm still trying to re-teach myself cursive. (I haven't used it since third grade.) This was written with a Jinhao 159 with a Goulet M nib.

After more testing, I am certain that my Clairefontaine notebook is not going to get touched now... Oops. This Tomoe paper just plays so well with WHATEVER I throw its way. I love it.

Such is the power of good reviews, that I've bought one just now. My first ever unlined/ungridded blank book.

Can't wait to try!

Dave at Nanami paper sells a lovely, thick, lined (7mm) TR 'Seven Seas' notebook. Exceptionally nice and helpful guy too...

I love the notebook but wish it was a tad bit larger...the size of my handwriting only lets me write 3-5 words per line and the books don't lie flat enough to really be able to write as close to the left side as I would like. Of course it doesn't stop me from using the book/paper as it is lovely but still...one always looks for that perfect writing experience...

Have you considered turning them 90 degrees and writing across the long way? Not great for unsupported knee writing, but doable at a desk.

I've been known to write completely across both pages to take full advantage of my OBB nibs.

Cream won. I got a sampler pack from nanami paper and compared, just to make sure it wouldn't color shift all of my pretty inks. The cream is very subtle off-white. Just barely more yellow than the twsbi notebook paper. Since the ink sits on top of the paper instead of being absorbed, it doesn't color shift on either. The cream just has a tiny bit more character. So I just ordered 2 of the cream from paperforfountainpens.com. Looking forward to the notebooks :puddle:

I use mine turned 90 Degrees and find it a practical option. So much so, that I picked up an A5 notebook I've been using and promptly turned it sideways without thinking.

I was just on the site and don't see the 360 + page notebooks...did he ever come out with one?

I saw them a few weeks ago. Guessing the stock ran out.

Maybe we should write him & let him know these notebooks would sell throughout the year... I for one am not planning to reserve these for journaling - and limit myself to a page per day... if they were available now I'd probably get at least one...

I did inquire, this from Jay:

"When I made that variation my intention was for it to be limited, and they

indeed sold out a week or more ago. My first inclination was to bring them
back again around the end of October for the next New Year season.
However, I may well bring them back much sooner because of some inquiries
such as yours.

When they do become available again I will send out an email to existing
customers."

Hoping he does offer them sooner rather than later!

I just want to add to the list of praise on Jay's customer service. I recently ordered a pack of the Correspondence pads. Half-sheet is my preferred size for letter writing paper, so these lovely correspondence pads are just perfect for me. Currently Jay has listed only the cream on the website. In my order, I said I was looking forward to white being available too. Jay emailed me to let me know that 1) there would be a small delay in shipping, 2) he could fulfill the order faster with all white as he had a small amount available, and 3) I could mix and match if that was my preference. I took Jay up on the offer to mix and match. While the small delay was longer than Jay anticipated, he very graciously and generously handled that situation. Kudos Jay! I am already planning on placing another order as I get closer to the end of my TR blank book.

Note - edited because the computer is trying to think too much for me.
