I only used a cartridge Parker for a brief time in school, but when I returned to using writing instruments last year the first bottled ink I bought was Waterman Serenity Blue.

Mine was Sheaffer blue or black ink in the blue+yellow label. It was a LONG time ago, I think high school.

I liked the small refill pocket at the top of the bottle. I found it cool to use.

In college I switched to Parker Quink black in cartridges.

I just recently restarted my interest in FPs, and my first new bottle of ink in MANY years (over 20) was Cross blue.

I wanted a more "dry" ink than Parker Quink. One of my favorite pens would drip ink from the nib when loaded with Quink.

Nice question. My first inks were PR Burgundy Mist and Lake Placid Blue. This question brings back a fond memory of playing with 2 of my grandfathers inks, and blue and red. They likely were Sheaffer. The blue ink was in a diamond type glass bottle with a white top as I recall. I was not allowed to open the bottles... as a ink owner myself, I now know why.

Hello Garden City,

The blue ink in the diamond shaped bottle was no doubt Parker's Super Quink, a short-lived product from the late '50s to the mid '60s, (I think production lasted a little longer in other countries).

All the best,

Sean :)

It was a MB black and a red in the early 1990s. The less said the better...

I believe that things have greatly improved over the last handful of years wth their inks, competition is a good thing.

The first bottle I ever received was a gift of Diamine Green-Black from my parents. It's a nice ink, though it's not quite my favourite.

The first bottle I bought myself was Noodler's Bad Belted Kingfisher. Was and still is my favourite ink.

Mont Blanc Black. Because the office store was all out of cheaper ink, they sold me the bottle for what I would have paid. A deal, as it turned out. After that, I was hooked and bought vivid colors.

What a nice thing for the folks at the store to do! : )

Organics Studio Manganate and Jules Verne. Looking forward to using them in my new pens that arrive later this week. :)

Mine was Noodler's Bulletproof Black. I always have it (slightly diluted) in one of my pens.

Life's too short for bad paper.

I remember Peacock Blue was a nice color.

But I cannot recall the exact color.

Do you know of a modern equivalent of Peacock blue?

Uuh... I bought two bottles together and they both came at the same time.

However, I did end up using the Diamine Oxblood before the Baystate Blue, so I guess I'll say that one. Huzzah for indecision!

Hello AC,

I cannot say for sure, but I think Visconti Turquoise is close to the old Peacock. Hopefully others will substantiate or repudiate this statement. :D
