@pbkgwo, thanks! It took (roughly) 5 months or so from order to arrival, but Classic Fountain pens already had some of the titanium Piccolos on order, so I don't know how much earlier they had ordered that group. I think the current wait for most special order Nakayas averages out at about 6 - 8 months, with some pens taking longer and others less.

Lisa, thanks! For me, it's a toss-up between the Piccolos and the Mini Decapods. Stubs are about as far as I can go, currently :) I tried a 'crisper' cursive italic and realized that I rotate the nib enough to catch the sharp edges on the paper. Rapidographs are cool!

Currently using:Too many pens inked to list, I must cut back! :) I can guarantee there are flighters, urushi, and/or Sheaffer Vac-fillers in the mix!!!

Great review Josh! Am glad you like the pen.

In some ways, it is the anti-Piccolo because of its weight. I don't know how Nakaya did it, but the Titanium still feels well balanced. I wouldn't use it for meeting notes but you can actually use it for journaling, and its slower writing pace. The metal feels colder than urushi but quickly warms up as you use it. Genius!

Respect for your patience. I do not know if I would have lasted so long in anticipation.

Karlo, thanks! By the way, the sterling Platinum you featured on your blog is dynamite and is now on my 'sterling list' :)

Believe me, I hate waiting! It was worth it in the end. :)

From buying Nakaya pen deterring me too long time to wait. Maybe it makes the Nakaya pens are very exclusive.

I have a titanium nib (Stipula T model), a titanium bike, but a Ti pen?!?!?! Never thought of one. I’m not a fan of metal pens, but Nakaya did an excellent job here. I have to say it’s pretty!

Quinden, first, I must say that I am so sorry for your loss.

The pen is beautiful and your review is very well-written. Your penmanship is exquisite. I've never owned a Nakaya but this makes me long for one.

The fossil and quilt (I assume this is a quilt in the background.) are lovely and provide a nice juxtaposition of textures along with the pen.

Thanks for sharing.

Laura,

Thanks very much for your kind words!

Nakayas are not for everyone, but if you ever get a chance to test one out, you should. :) I think this one has an even more limited audience, as most people are interested in Nakaya's urushi and maki-e pens (which are beautiful as well). I just happen to also like metal pens, so it was a perfect storm of want!

The cloth is actually a bolt of fabric (also my wife's) - she used to do a lot of small projects. This one was made in Japan and we picked it up in a shop here in Houston. I really like the pattern and color choices, so I have used it and another bolt of cloth from the same shop in many of my photos.

Lisa,

Thanks; I have been very low-key and have only told a couple of my (online) friends... I didn't know if I should mention it, but I decided it would be for the best, and all my online friends deserve to know, same as my in-person friends. Sorry to throw it in a review thread though!

You're welcome. May her spirit live on in the people and things she loved.

I am hoping to find a Nakaya at a pen club meeting so I can try one out.

Perfect storm of want...I like that. Very poetic!

Yes, that fabric really is very beautiful.

awesome pen and review. I love titanium pens and have a few (Prather 51, Torelli Sheaffer replica, Omas T2). I will add it to the wish list
